day 7: An exhausting day climbing in section K. A new section for me- finally get to meet the Glacier Peak Wilderness. There was so much elevation gain. My watch said 6,449 feet gain and 3,957 feet loss. I got my period, of course. The trail was overgrown, it was hot, and there were many blowdowns to climb over. I packed out a croissant and a huge cinnamon roll. In town I saw the first 5 NOBOs in the morning on the shuttle and 2 more on trail. Two forest service crew members were clearing trail and I passed Free Speed. I got to the place I wanted to camp early and it was full of mosquitos so I pushed further, ate and closed my eyes. Later in the evening, Free Speed, Sheyla, and Cory made it to the same campsite. Cory played the trumpet ✨ Even though it was a tough day, the trail was so gorgeous.

day 6: I am still in love with Stehekin. Last time i had to take a ferry here in 2024 due to a trail closure. I woke up ecstatic to be stepping foot here once more and to be buying too many baked goods from the bakery.

I picked up my first resupply box full of expired food for the next 4-5 days. I didn’t want to pay another $20 for the shuttle so I walked back & swam in Lake Chelan for the first time. Along the walk some people on bikes offered me a place to stay. I stopped by the gorgeous community garden and once more at the bakery for another cortado.

day 4: DC was a mess this summer with all the fourth of july prep so i decided to spend my fourth on the mountains getting fear mongered by forest service people instead.

i snuck out of the trail magic without saying goodbye after hearing about the supposed snow and other trail challenges up ahead.

the muffins i packed for the fourth were not very tasty.

the worst that happened was a a couple with a dog came up behind me during a steep snow traverse and let their dog sneak up and start barking loudly at me. I was so mad but had to focus on getting to the other end.

At some point my new friend Free Speed caught up to me during my hour lunch break. We leapfrogged for a bit and camped together.

The best part of the day was when i got my first triple deuce 💩💩💩 shout out town & trail magic food aaand also seeing lots of baby animals, my favorite was the baby grouse.

day 3: It rained all night at Hopkins Lake. Could I make it back to Harts Pass today to retrieve my next 3 days of food? Yes. Trail magic was set up at the pass and I had a veggie burger before deciding to go see Lion's Den hostel for old times sake. I mentioned I was curious if Argentina had won the match and the trail angel mom flagged a car for me to find out in town.
Everything works out eventually if you let it happen.

day 2: The steep parts of trail I was worried about having snow didn’t have any but there was still lots to traverse.

I camped with a dog named Yogi and his owner. Yogi was too cold to come out of his tent to hang out but peeked his head out to say goodnight. His dad called me a machine for doing 26 miles but I didn’t mean to hike that far today, I had just passed the last water without noticing because i don’t like to check my phone often when I hike. Oops.

Summer isn’t over yet!!! & SOBOs are still hiking out there :)
I loved my sobo summer 💛

day 1: With little sleep and a little jet lagged, I woke up in Seattle at my buddy Interview’s apartment.

Trail angel Jerry drove me to the great Mazama store to buy a salty baguette.

With the twenty dollars Jonathan Richman left for me in an envelope after working his show in DC, I made my way to the Canadian border. What will I spend these $20 on? No clue, but it feels right to hold on to it like one holds on to a $2 bill.

My resupply for the month of July is all expired food leftover from another trail. Am I on the PCT? Yes!

these photos were taken on a tiny green camera i carried-i could barely tell what the quality of the photos would be at the time. i miss the PCT sun on my face & i miss hiking with these people 💛 July was a lovely month.

When I thruhiked the PCT in 2024 I forgot to mail myself my Argentina flag for the terminus. That year I took a photo of my Argentina bracelet instead so I decided to hike to the Canadian border again this month and get a photo, plus make up some wildfire closure miles that I couldn’t hike in 2024.

It began to rain on the last 3 miles to the terminus and there was no one on the trail or the terminus. I took a video since no one could take my photo so I got screenshots of me running around in the rain with my flag. Having the terminus to myself was quite special. I thought of all my PCT homies and will continue to think of them as I continue to head southbound. 💛🌐

The trail is so different with snow and it’s so lovely meeting new hikers on their first thruhike. A SOBO start is challenging and everyone is doing great. Don’t quit!!

it’s been 6 months since finishing this beautiful trail and so on my half birthday I gift you all the rest of the film photos from the CDT ✨

Photos from the first snowfall, to looking for water sources, to sleeping in the basin, to hanging out at a brewery in the desert with locals, to saying goodbye to Butter in Lordsburg, to trail days, to joy’s birthday on trail, to defrosting sleeping bags under the morning sun, to a beautiful sunset in new mexico and more.
