POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Ran to Philly Monday to see @sugarcopperblue at @uniontransfer thanks to my brother from another mother @megabacchi4realz - absolutely mindblowing 23 song set! Here’s just a few highlights, and some from @jrobbinsofficial who opened up. A full night of 90s nostalgia and everyone brought their A+++ game. Snuck in a lil clip of Tony hearing that bassline that we “borrowed” for “menthol 40” back in the Thermous days - that smile’s worth its weight in gold, my friends!

If you can catch them on this tour, DO IT! Worth every penny!

And so good to see my homie and his whole magickal family, even if its never enough time ever 💪🏽🖤😎 taken in Union Transfer by @1975ish

Meet @1975ish: Rochester local, lake surfer, danger sledding enthusiast, and the guy you need to know.

Erich is the kind of Rochester local who knows that the best parts of a place aren’t just the spots on the map. They’re the stories, the people, and the memories that make it home.

Now, Haymaker is joining Erich’s Wegmans home. Because every local legend deserves a good go-to drink in hand for all his adventures.

Here’s to 18 years of artistic adventures rallied behind the 1975 flag.

1975’s old enough to vote . . . this whole thing was originally intended to just last a year, just to prove to myself I could do it. I never expected all that would come after, but my life (and hopefully yours) has been so much richer because of this wild hair of an idea.

A deep, heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s supported my artistic and curatorial shenanigans over the years. I will forever appreciate every one of you, and while my output has slowed for all the reasons (*waves hands*), my aim still remains the same.

2026 has been a rough one for getting anything done besides existing, but I promise October will not pass without something spooky from 1975. #1975Gallery taken in Rochester, NY by @1975ish

Took a lil jaunt to PA with @craigclehman to go visit #papalame for his 85th birthday (technically this Tuesday!). #cheeseteaks were had, many marysville diner visits went down, and errands were done around his house.

Got to see a bunch of old friends, too, and check out the new @funtastik_skatensnow shop and skatepark. Solid weekend 😎 by @1975ish

Been rolling with this crew for a long, long time. Lot more gray in our hair. 😂We rarely get to crew up this deep though, and after months of planning, finally all got in one spot for a few days. I could go on and on about them all, but I’ll just say I’m beyond grateful for their friendship and creative influence and all the tomfoolery that has come with it. We’re all so lucky to have crossed paths and intentionally stayed friends all these years. Love you all (and all the folks who couldn’t make this round, I’ll see you this Fall for round 2) taken in Rochester, NY by @1975ish

Happy Birthday, Mom. You would have been 77 today.

Another rediscovered gem from the archives, probably from about 1979, Mom’s holding a baby Craig while I’m distracted in whatever it is I’m up to. by @1975ish

Quick jaunt to Philly to see @thehives with @ecrbdb and @jbarton3 - once again, they did not disappoint. Some much needed cathartic singing, screaming, and dancing was had. #thehivesforeverforeverthehives 🫡 by @1975ish

Happiest birthday to my sweetie bubs, @1975ish!! Even when things are scary and it seems tough, you always find a way to bring a little magick to the world. Whether it’s introducing me to the incomparable @gilmanteraspartydream this year (I am eternally grateful) or simply taking time to capture @dottiethemanx’s never ending cuteness, you have a knack for reminding me (and everyone else) to remember how precious each moment is 🖤 I loves you bubs! Cheers to keeping the magick alive always 😘 ✨✨✨ by @1975ish

“book(er) of words we stand by”
Melissa Matson
silk (handwritten, screen-printed, burned, stiffened), linen, acrylic paint
2025
NFS

Melissa Matson balances her career as a professional viola player with the creativity of a visual artist. Her artisan dyed fabrics are characterized by improvisation and the use of calligraphic “faux text” which leaves interpretation up to the individual viewer. She has only recently been inspired to create art that has a political message.

Matson says of her work, “Inspired by Senator Cory Booker’s 25-hour speech to the Senate (March 2025), and also shocked by the list of “banned and trigger words in federal grant writing in the Trump Administration” released by the National Science Foundation (Spring 2025), I found it imperative to use the actual texts in a clearly legible form. After the labor-intensive task of handwriting Booker’s words on blank silk, the administration’s banned words were screen-printed and then burned into the fabric. The “pages” were stiffened, and emerge from the inverted U.S. flag.

The incendiary “forbidden words” have not been erased from our world; on the contrary, they are preserved - and even inflame the passions of those who fight against the threatened erasure of human dignity.”
