The Black Hills Powwow changed something in me.

Hundreds of tribes. 3,000 dancers. All moving together for healing and for remembering. I felt what music and dance can do when a whole people carries them.

I first saw President of the Native American Church of South Dakota, Chief Sandor lead the Sun Dance in Mexico. This week I had the honor of sitting down with him. He has given his life to protecting and preserving the Lakota Nation, and his work reaches far beyond it. He is uniting Indigenous peoples across the Americas, north to south. A living prophecy. A planetary leader.

What stayed with me most was how he prays. Not for himself. For his people, for his community, for the ones who come after.

He showed me what it looks like when a man stands with women, with respect, without needing to stand in front of them.

As we rise as women, let’s also honor the men who make room for our gifts, our beauty, and our power, and who lift them higher.

Sandor, thank you for welcoming us into these sacred days. We carry them with us. taken in Black Hills South Dakota by @1billion.hearts

I’ve danced across 100 countries now, and the best stage I’ve ever found is the street.

When we were filming in Jozi, we took a contemporary piece under a bridge in the CBD and performed it right there on the concrete. People who live on those streets started gathering. Watching at first, then moving closer.

What I’ll never forget is how the young dancers looked at them. No pity. Respect. One of them leaned over and said, “That’s one of our elders.” A few minutes later one of the men stepped into the circle and danced with us like he’d been waiting his whole life for someone to ask.

One of the dancers from the company turned to me and said, “You can see it in how he moves. Those are Zulu movements. That’s Zulu culture.”

That’s the power of bringing art to the street. Nothing stops it. It’s the voice of the people, raw and live, happening right now. The museums hold what was made. The street is where it’s being made.

Everywhere we go, we get the same choice. Stay on the surface, where it’s safe and comfortable. Or dive in with your whole heart and let the place change you.

The only number that matters is how many hearts you move, and how many you let move you.

When we lead with our heart and our hips, we become a volcano, and magic is created🌋

I’ve danced with women in over 100 countries. When we filmed interviews, the whole conversation changed if we danced first instead of talking first. What came out was deeper and more honest, like the words were coming from the body instead of the head.

The same thing happened in my work with the United Nations. When we moved before we planned, the results were bolder, the ideas were braver, and the process was actually enjoyable.

The body holds an intelligence we skip right past. So before your next big conversation, meeting, or decision, shake it out. Shake your hips. Start there.

For me, this isn’t a warm-up. It’s a key part of the creative process, and it’s how we get access to what we’re really capable of. by @1billion.hearts

What’s your song?
What’s your dance?

Celebration isn’t the reward for finding your purpose. It’s how you find it.

Put the dance inside the vision and purpose stops being something you’re searching for — it becomes something you’re living out.
A prophecy your body already knows the steps to.

Your song and your dance aren’t separate from why you’re here.

They ARE why you’re here.

Hold the vision.

From the Brazilian Amazon, dancing with Queen Putanny, still going at 4AM across the glaze of the fire.

In the Moroccan desert, sharing a prayer with the Gnawa at the Layla, the night wide open and the drums and heads spinning doing all the talking.

At the pyramids of Egypt, leading technology leaders in one chant: *the only currency is love, health, life.* They chant it back as their own prophecy.

Then the UN General Assembly and Davos, holding dance as our most universal language for peace. No translator needed.

In Bali, a high priest who had called the exact hour of every earthquake watched me dance and told me to explore more deeply the sacredness of it. Message received.

Back in New York, dance battling Crazy Legs before I understood what a battle was. Turns out it’s an intimate conversation of spirit and the only rule is to honor the one in front of you.

In Alex a South African township, I felt more connected to God and the power of culture than I ever have in my life. A whole community holding each other up inside the beat of the music.

From Mandela’s grandson, straight from his lips: Mandela danced with his people before he would fight. The feet went first. Freedom followed.

In Lagos, dancing on stage at the Shrine with the legendary family of Fela Kuti, where liberation lives in the twerk. In the sweat. Unified, dancing together with the people.

Rio carnival, dissolving into the largest sea of dance I have ever seen, African diasporic prayers pressed into the soles of our feet.

Saudi Arabia, the first dance of the swords. Metal meeting metal, clash after clash, thunder you feel in your ribs. Where words are careful, culture speaks first.

In Siwa, twirling into Sufi trance, in the land of the oracle who confirmed Alexander the Great, until there was no dancer left, only the dance.

The dance of stillness in the Peruvian Amazon, learning the old chants, the sacred plants, and Noya Rao, the luminescent tree of light, glowing in the dark like she has nothing to prove. The ultimate dancer, nature herself.

All of life is a prayer.
All of life is a dance.
Hold the vision
and everything becomes a miracle

At the UN General Assembly, talking about what dance can do that words can’t.

When we move together, we build unity in seconds — the kind of trust that normally takes years. That’s embodied leadership. It’s what lets culture lead, and it’s what peace and harmony need to hold as a frequency, not just an idea.

I’ve practiced this in 30 countries. In the Congo, we danced with women who had survived violence — before they sat down to design a five-year plan for their city. What they built after moving together was more ambitious, more alive, than anything from day one.

Dance isn’t a metaphor for peacekeeping. It’s a tool for it. Move together before you negotiate. Move together before you resolve conflict. The body dreams bigger than the mind does alone — and it’s the body that makes the dream real.

I closed my company. I was going through a breakup. I felt the most alone I had ever felt. That was the darkest moment of my life.

And in the middle of it, I led a dance circle for two hundred people.

Everything in me could have said no thank you, this is not the moment. Could have collapsed into the despair. Instead, I showed up and I danced — and I celebrated — while my whole world was on fire.

That circle became one of the greatest moments of teaching in my life. Because it proved something to me: even when everything is falling apart, there’s still a golden light in you that can sparkle through the darkness.

That’s the whole lesson. You don’t wait for the storm to pass to dance. You dance inside it. And that’s what carries you to the other side.

My birthday prayer
Vandana means prayer ❤️🙏🏽❤️
1 Million Women Dance together every day into their dreams to open the hearts of the world 🌍
I believe this is how we hold the world in peace, harmony, and beauty.

Honored to have danced across 100+ cultures. A piece of my heart lives in every place I’ve danced — and I carry a piece of yours with me on this soul mission.

Overcome war with peace.
Overcome divide with unity.
Overcome despair with love.
This all lives in the dance.
I will meet you here.

Your dance gives me strength to face darkness with love.
Together, we are 0% alone. 100% connected.

Juntas, somos 0% sozinhas e 100% conectadas by @1billion.hearts

I yell it every time.

It means opening yourself to the most beautiful experience life has to offer.

And when we celebrate together— that always becomes possible

I’ve asked this question on stages on every continent.

“What’s the most important currency on the planet?”

Every audience, every country, every language — the answer is always the same.

Love. Health. Life.

Real luxury was never a private jet. It’s time. Time to sing. Time to dance. Time to stand barefoot in nature with people you love, with nowhere else to be.

So when people ask what my “billionaire life” actually looks like — this is it. Drum circles. Bare feet. Full hearts. No phone. 100% connected.

1 Billion Hearts isn’t a metaphor. It’s the wealth we’re all actually chasing
