The Black Hills Powwow changed something in me.

Hundreds of tribes. 3,000 dancers. All moving together for healing and for remembering. I felt what music and dance can do when a whole people carries them.

I first saw President of the Native American Church of South Dakota, Chief Sandor lead the Sun Dance in Mexico. This week I had the honor of sitting down with him. He has given his life to protecting and preserving the Lakota Nation, and his work reaches far beyond it. He is uniting Indigenous peoples across the Americas, north to south. A living prophecy. A planetary leader.

What stayed with me most was how he prays. Not for himself. For his people, for his community, for the ones who come after.

He showed me what it looks like when a man stands with women, with respect, without needing to stand in front of them.

As we rise as women, let’s also honor the men who make room for our gifts, our beauty, and our power, and who lift them higher.

Sandor, thank you for welcoming us into these sacred days. We carry them with us.

I used to think I had to figure it all out alone.

Then I started learning from women who’d mastered what I hadn’t yet. Artists. Venture capitalists. Investors. Spiritual leaders. Female chiefs of tribes.

Being around them didn’t make me feel small. It reminded me of my own power.

When another woman stands fully in her light, it reflects yours back to you. That’s how you remember who you are.

Find the women who remind you.

That’s why we dance together. 💛

I’ve danced across 100 countries now, and the best stage I’ve ever found is the street.

When we were filming in Jozi, we took a contemporary piece under a bridge in the CBD and performed it right there on the concrete. People who live on those streets started gathering. Watching at first, then moving closer.

What I’ll never forget is how the young dancers looked at them. No pity. Respect. One of them leaned over and said, “That’s one of our elders.” A few minutes later one of the men stepped into the circle and danced with us like he’d been waiting his whole life for someone to ask.

One of the dancers from the company turned to me and said, “You can see it in how he moves. Those are Zulu movements. That’s Zulu culture.”

That’s the power of bringing art to the street. Nothing stops it. It’s the voice of the people, raw and live, happening right now. The museums hold what was made. The street is where it’s being made.

Everywhere we go, we get the same choice. Stay on the surface, where it’s safe and comfortable. Or dive in with your whole heart and let the place change you.

The only number that matters is how many hearts you move, and how many you let move you.

When we lead with our heart and our hips, we become a volcano, and magic is created🌋

I’ve danced with women in over 100 countries. When we filmed interviews, the whole conversation changed if we danced first instead of talking first. What came out was deeper and more honest, like the words were coming from the body instead of the head.

The same thing happened in my work with the United Nations. When we moved before we planned, the results were bolder, the ideas were braver, and the process was actually enjoyable.

The body holds an intelligence we skip right past. So before your next big conversation, meeting, or decision, shake it out. Shake your hips. Start there.

For me, this isn’t a warm-up. It’s a key part of the creative process, and it’s how we get access to what we’re really capable of.

What’s your song?
What’s your dance?

Celebration isn’t the reward for finding your purpose. It’s how you find it.

Put the dance inside the vision and purpose stops being something you’re searching for — it becomes something you’re living out.
A prophecy your body already knows the steps to.

Your song and your dance aren’t separate from why you’re here.

They ARE why you’re here.

This all lives in the dance.
I will meet you here.

Your dance gives me strength to face darkness with love.
Together, we are 0% alone. 100% connected.

Juntas, somos 0% sozinhas e 100% conectadas
