Sneak peek of the longest en-suite renovation in history. Nothing is plumbed in and the conversation currently surrounds whether we should paint the bath pink or leave it white like the basin and toilet. COVID 🤢 Covid has certainly hit @24with4 hard. It’s put a standstill to our en suite as we need a team of people in the house. Fingers crossed for a push when we re-emerge next week to get it ready for Christmas 🎄 In the meantime we are definitely using our squad efficiently to try and crack on with some painting - that we should have done when we first bought 24, rather than playing catch up now. We are finally tidying up the kitchen with trusty old #dovetale and smashing the hallway with this delicious #duckgreen paint, we’ve enlisted @decoratingcentreonline to try and save costs, honestly their customer service is brilliant. The paint arrived within 24 hours of ordering too which is a huge bonus. Hopefully we can hire a sander in a week or two and then the downstairs will feel ⭐️… still haven’t got any radiators in our bedroom… I’m gazing longingly at the ladies standing in the hallway, waiting for them to be fitted. They are going to look shamazing against this beautiful green… next up we’ll be tackling the stairs. Gold gold gold… I am so excited by this post!! … so these ladies are the old rads we picked up ages ago from a gumtree ad in Skegness. We’ve had them powder coated in gold and we cannot wait to get them on the walls. We’ve got another 6 to collect next week and then we’ve got the tricky task of assigning which rads to which room. Some of our rooms here are massive so will need more than one rad. I’m going to use the BTU calculators on other cast iron radiator websites to figure out the heat input to help decide where they will go. Will keep you posted as new ones land. Fingers crossed by the end of next week we’ll have them all here with us! The dust is from the sand blasting in the workshop… it wipes off easily! So long suckers… it’s en-suite time!!! We have been busy squirrelling away over the summer with lots of little jobs… I will upload pics but for now these bozos were the first pics i could find on my photo reel so they’ll have to do. The room we are making our en-suite is the smallest room in our home. It was the staff bedroom so had a basin with a huge tiled surround featuring plain white tiles and then a number of these bad boys thrown in. Surprisingly we are not keeping them. First fix plumbing is in. Furniture has arrived… just waiting for the micro cement and we can really get going with it. I wonder what colour we have chosen… by @24with4

Stained glass windows... our house has lots of little stained glasswork throughout including these two windows beside the bay. They need a little restoring including painting the frame to remove all signs of beige... all of the once dark wood has been painted the creamiest of cream... my least fave colour. Painting choices to go grey or black? We had grey at the last house which looked lush against the pink but never felt dark enough... what do you think? NEW COLOUR vs OLD COLOUR

So this is the new limewash colour which we put on the walls last night. It’s called Skin Powder by Pure and Original paint @pure_and_original it’s a lot pinker and softer than the yellow peachy setting plaster limewash by #farrowandball. I think the gold in my nipple lights works much better with this colour than the other colour. So these are the walls with @farrowandball setting plaster #limewash on. The finish is perfect, really lovely but the colour just wasn’t what I wanted for the room. Too orangey. That’s the only downside to farrow and ball limewash... you can’t get limewash testers. And you can’t predict how it will look on the walls using an emulsion paint tester pot. If the colour had worked first time I’d be feeling pretty smug sat in bed in our bedroom... as it happens I’m in the babies bedroom snuggled into a toddler!
Anyway, back to the room of doom... we’ve scrapped the rough edge finish idea and we are instead going to take the paint all the way to the top. Gold Radiators... so these were the beautiful cast iron rads we salvaged from an old church in Birmingham. We had them powder coated in various colours, including gold sparkle. It took the chaps a few goes to get the finish right. I’ve got three with the team at the mo being prepared for our bedroom.
Fingers crossed they’ll have the same brilliant finish 🤞🏻

Hello pocket doors! Well these are a thing of beauty! The doors separate the bedroom and the walk in wardrobe... I want to call it a dressing room but I think that’s a bit wanky... what do you think? 🤣🤣🤣 We are pretty pleased with them! Still thinking about colours... after watching @ruthcodd I’ve got a mental mindset to stay away from Grey... watch Ruth on TikTok... Brilliant human.

Where to start 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️ This week has been tricky at 24. When we bought our previous home we were renting and gave ourselves six months to do the work before moving in. This time however we haven’t done that, we’ve just moved right in. With our four babes, one dog, four cats and tortoise. So knowing where to start is hard when we are working around jobs, home school and a world of stuff! The other problem is MONEY! We have some money set aside for (hopefully) a side return extension but since moving in we’ve realised we are going to have to spend on plumbing. Hello! ⭐️ So here she is, our lovely home. Originally on the market as a 12 bed property we had a meeting with the agent regarding the sale of our home and the usual “shall we sell or stay” questions... to which she obviously advised us to sell as we had outgrown our three bed in Lime Grove. Our hesitation to sell came from a lack of large properties on the market that fitted our requirements... period, garden, parking, renovation. I jokingly asked if we could buy half of Cavendish House... to which our agent replied... probably, yes!!! After 9 months of lockdown, planning applications to change the use of Cavendish House and separate both properties (an ongoing debacle for another day) we completed and are now the very chuffed owners of this baby!
