Meet 👋🏾 our friend, Kadijatu Tholley

Kadijatu is 8️⃣ years old and has been waiting almost a year for a sponsor. She lives in Tombo, Sierra Leone 🇸🇱, with her mother and 3️⃣ siblings. Her mother sells goods and spices, but often struggles to provide for her children's basic needs. When she can afford schooling, her favorite subject is English 📚. She hopes to be an entrepreneur when she grows up. Kadijatu's favorite color is yellow 💛, and her favorite food is couscous and beef 🐄. She asks for prayers 🙏🏾 of prosperity.

Most parents struggle to provide their families with more than one meal a day, so the cost of sending their children to school is not easy to come by. Those who can afford to send one or two of their children to school will often choose to send only their sons. Girls whose parents cannot afford to send them to school will be left at home to tend to daily chores, and their smaller siblings while the parents are away earning their daily wages. This lack of education and supervision makes girls just entering adolescence very vulnerable to teenage pregnancy. Girls who have not been given access to education are often left with no option but to marry at a young age to be financially supported by their husbands. The cost of sponsorship at $78/month would give Kadijatu the opportunity to attend school and accomplish her goal of becoming a doctor 😇.

Not only were the kids able to go horseback riding 🐴 during their trip to Entoto, but they also went ziplining!! Look at those smiling faces 🥰.

Meet our sweet friend Fanaye Temesgen 🥰

She is 8️⃣ years old and has been waiting 181 days for a sponsor. Fanaye is from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 🇪🇹, where she lives with her parents and 2️⃣ sisters. Her parents sell candy 🍬 in their village, but often do not earn enough to cover the family's basic needs. Fanaye's favorite class is math 🧮, and she hopes to be a teacher 👩🏾‍🏫 when she grows up. Our older kids in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 were blessed with a trip to Entoto last week. One of the activities they participated in while visiting was 🥁🥁 ... horseback riding 🐎.

Meet our sweet friend, Yunairi Petinblac!

Yunairi lives in Villa Linda, Dominican Republic 🇩🇴, with her two siblings and her parents. Her father is a construction worker 👷🏾‍♂️ but often does not earn enough to provide for his family's basic needs, such as food, shelter, and education. Yunairi wants to be a lawyer when she grows up. Yunairi loves the color purple 💜, and her favorite sport is volleyball 🏐. When she is able to attend school, her favorite subject is math 🧮. Her favorite food is rice 🍚 and beans 🫘.

Yunairi is awaiting a full sponsorship of $78 per month, or a half sponsorship of $39 per month. Meet our sweet friend 🥰 Pallavi Masih

Pallavi is 16 years old and has been waiting for a sponsor for 2️⃣ years. She comes from a Christian ✝️ family. Her father left her mother, and now her mother works as a hotel cleaner 🧼 to support her family. However, her earnings are not enough to provide for Pallavi’s basic needs; therefore, she asked if she could stay in the Mercy Homes. Pallavi loves to study science 🧪 and hopes to be a pilot ✈️ one day. Her favorite color is red ❤️, and in her free time, she likes to paint 🎨 and draw ✍🏾.
