God is good! Blessed to say, my breast cancer treatments are done as of today, March 5, 2024. No more chemo... no more radiation treatments! For all n intents and purposes...I AM CANCER FREE!!! I still have to do immunotherapy as maintenence up to/ through August. But I can finally breath!
Once again, thanks to my family and friends for all your love and support over the past 8 months. I couldn't have done this without you.
Thanks to the oncology, surgical and radiology teams @memorialsloankettering that have taken care of me.

This is bigger than just putting together an event for me. 🎀

Breast cancer touched my life long before I truly understood what breast cancer even was.

In 1992, I lost my grandmother, Sallie Hardy, to this disease. I was only 10 years old. At that age, you know someone you love is gone, but you don't fully understand everything that loss will mean as you get older.

Now I do.

There are so many moments I wish she could have been here for. I wish she could've watched me grow into the man I am today. I wish she could've seen me get married. Most of all, I wish I would've had more time to sit with her, listen to her stories, learn from her experiences and receive some of the wisdom that only a grandmother can give.

That's something you can't get back.

Years later, life has brought breast cancer back into my world in a completely different way.

Through Rell Raw Uncut, I've been blessed to sit down with survivors and thrivers like @k15ha, @kevykev220 and @2becarla and simply listen.

Their stories changed my perspective.

I heard strength. I heard fear. I heard determination. I heard people choosing to keep living, loving, laughing and moving forward despite everything they had been through.

And somewhere along the way, this event stopped feeling like something I wanted to do.

It became something I felt I needed to do.

So when we come together on October 17th, we're not just wearing pink.

We're remembering the people who should still be here.

We're standing beside the people who are fighting right now.

We're celebrating the survivors and thrivers who remind us what courage looks like.

And for me personally, I'm honoring a woman who left this earth when I was just 10 years old but whose impact on my life never left.

Grandma Sallie, this night is for you. 🕊️💗

October 17th, we celebrate life, strength, memories and the people we love.

No one should ever have to fight alone. 🎀

Three years ago, a routine mammogram changed my life. It led to the early detection of my breast cancer, and because it was caught early, I had options and hope. Today as a survivor, I share my story because someone you know may need this. Free mammogram screenings are happening Sunday, August 2nd in Harlem for eligible women. If you qualify, please don’t wait. If not, please share this post with your circle. Early detection saves lives. One appointment can make all the difference.
