⭐️Trip Facts (save for later):

A little French escape at Chamard Vineyards near the Connecticut shoreline. ✨

From the moment you turn into the driveway, this winery feels like you’re in the French countryside. 🌳

Start with a shareable appetizer, linger over seasonal farm-to-table plates, and try a flight on the balcony or in the tasting room. 🍽️ 🧀🍷

Wander the vines, claim a shady spot, then take a bottle to the pond for golden hour—that’s the memory you’ll talk about later. 🍾

NYC is a photographers heaven. Walking with a camera in hand, every block feels like its own movie set — from graffiti honoring legends to yellow taxis rushing by. Each corner reminds us why this city is so alive. 📸🚖

The view outside my ride is Tokyo Bay reflecting below as our Japan Airlines flight departs Haneda Airport.

We plan our trips for weeks or sometimes months — the destination, the itinerary, the perfect time of day to capture the sunset. We shouldn’t overlook the journey, though. The journey can be just as enjoyable as the destination. A stretch of road, a random overlook, or a coastal view from above...and we almost ignore it.

This is Episode 3 in our #ViewOutsideMyRide series — slowing down to look at what’s outside the window, whether your “ride” is a car, train, plane, or boat. The journey has just as much to give you as the place you’re going. You just have to be paying attention.

Save this if you’re planning a Japan trip and want the journey, not just the itinerary.

The view outside my ride is Mt. Fuji rising over Lake Saiko, Japan — with a tiny sailboat drifting across the frame, seen from the lakeside road.

We plan our trips for weeks or sometimes months — the destination, the itinerary, the perfect time of day to capture the sunset. We shouldn’t overlook the journey, though. The journey can be just as enjoyable as the destination. A stretch of road, a random overlook, or a mountain from a different perspective... and we almost drive right past it.

Hidden udon spot in Kyoto, 5 mins from Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Save for your 2026 / 2027 Kyoto trip.

If you’re looking for where to eat near Arashiyama, save this one.

This restaurant was such a surprise and exactly what we needed. Sitting in the intimate garden enjoying fresh udon noodle soup and a cold beverage was the perfect reset after exploring the Bamboo Forest.

There’s a scenic pathway that connects the western end of Arashiyama Bamboo Forest to this restaurant.

We’ve added a map at the end of the reel so you don’t get lost.

Save-worthy tips:
🪑 Inside + outside seating available when the weather is nice — we’d recommend the garden seats
📝 No reservations are needed
🍜 Udon noodle soups + sweets on the menu
💛 Very friendly staff

It’s the perfect quiet break right after the Bamboo Forest crowds.

The view outside my ride is the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge, seen from the FDR along NYC’s East Side.

We plan our trips for weeks or sometimes months — the destination, the itinerary, the perfect time of day to capture the sunset. We shouldn’t overlook the journey, though. The journey can be just as enjoyable as the destination. A stretch of road, a random overlook, or bridges from a different perspective... and we almost drive right past it.

This is the start of a series where we slow down and actually look at what’s outside the window. Doesn’t matter if your “ride” is a car, a train, a plane, or a boat — the journey has just as much to give you as the place you’re going. You just have to be paying attention.

So what makes this water so special? Kentucky sits on ancient limestone bedrock. As groundwater filters through it, the stone naturally strips out harsh iron (which would wreck a whiskey’s color and taste) and adds calcium and magnesium — minerals yeast thrives on during fermentation.

For over 60 years, this distillery sat abandoned and the water fell silent.

Today, after a full restoration, that same limestone spring water is back in the mash bill — shaping every drop of bourbon, gin, and vodka made here.

It’s history you can actually taste. 🥃

If you look closely at the Roman-style Springhouse at Castle & Key, the 140,000-gallon natural spring pool inside is built in the exact shape of a keyhole.

Back in 1887, legendary distiller Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. designed it that way on purpose. He believed this exact limestone water source was the “key to great bourbon.”

And that’s what inspired the “Key” in Castle & Key.

Part two of our Castle & Key series.

Follow @2chasingtime for more of what makes this distillery unique and what inspired “Castle” in Castle & Key. 🌿

Kentucky Bourbon Trail tip: skip the crowds and start in Augusta, KY — a riverside bourbon trail town most people don’t know about.

The locals told us to catch the sunset along the river, so we did. We found a spot at the end of Main Street and watched it reflect off the Ohio River and drop behind the hills. We couldn’t believe our luck when a small fishing boat sped across the water at the perfect moment. Couldn’t have timed it better if we tried.

If you’re planning a Kentucky Bourbon Trail trip, especially coming from the northeast, Augusta is the perfect place to start. It’s a small Ohio River town where the locals treat you like you grew up there, and everything — restaurants, shops, bourbon, accommodations — is within walking distance.

A few stops we’d recommend:
🛏️The Benchmark Inn — an 1800s tavern turned bed and breakfast, walk to everything
🥃 Augusta Distillery — their Buckner’s 13-year bourbon was named “Best in the World”
🍀 The Augusta Pub — an 1800s bank turned Irish pub, order the “Kentucky Rain” cocktail

📍 Augusta, KY. Add it to your list.

Tag or send this to the person you’re doing the bourbon trail with — this has to be stop number 1.

A vintage parasol at Lime Rock’s Historic Festival 44 might look out of place. Then the cars roll out, and you realize it’s as timeless and classy as the race cars at this event.

Don’t let their age fool you. These cars are fast—real, hands-on-the-wheel fast. We drive a stick shift and can appreciate the power it has, but we can only imagine what it feels like behind the wheel of these race cars.

We love being spectators, watching from the hillside and wandering the paddock, admiring all the vintage cars up close.

This is one of our favorite traditions over Labor Day Weekend.

@limerockpark in Lakeville, CT. Come for the speed. Stay for the timeless. Bring your own kind of class.

Which car would you want to drive? 👇

We didn’t expect a distillery on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to have a garden like this. Castle & Key is the only distillery on the Trail with a sunken, European-inspired garden. We forgot we were even at a distillery the second we walked in.

In 2014, before a single bottle was poured, this garden was the first thing they excavated. It was buried and forgotten for decades. The pond and the trees were restored to match the original 19th-century design.

You can walk the garden and sit at the tables during your visit to the distillery. It’s as much a reason to make Castle & Key a stop on the Bourbon Trail. And, it’s just a few minutes from Frankfort, KY.

This is part one of a series we are doing on this distillery.

Follow @2chasingtime as we share more of what makes this distillery unique. 🥃🌿

Comment “COFFEE” for a map of these 5 + 40 more coffee shops worth stopping at in New York City.

We’ve stopped trying to see all of NYC. These days we pick a coffee shop, a window, a table — and just watch the city move without us for a while.

✨️ Here’s where we’ve been lately (save for later):
01 | dae day, near Grand Central — Minimalist, quiet, Aussie-style flat whites. You step out of Grand Central’s marble chaos and into dae day…the volume just drops.
02 | Stumptown, Greenwich Village — This room used to be the Eighth Street Bookshop, where Kerouac and Ginsberg wandered the aisles in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Now it’s coffee instead of books, but the same hush is still there.
03 | Ralph’s Coffee, Upper East — Tucked inside the original Ralph Lauren flagship on a landmarked corner, opened in 2014 with marble counters and forest-green china. It doesn’t feel like a coffee run. It feels like stepping into an old film together for twenty minutes.
04 | Lazy Llama, East Village — A cozy spot tucked just off Houston Street in the East Village, with outdoor seating facing a classic NYC street scene, perfect for people-watching with a cup in hand.
05 | Abraço, East Village — No laptops, jazz always playing. The name literally means “a hug” in Portuguese. A coffee shop that’s called the embrace — that’s the whole visit in one word.

Which one matches your pace today? 👇

Comment “COFFEE” and we’ll send you the map — these 5 + 40 more coffee stops across New York City where you can slow down and watch the city go by. 🗺️☕️
