Forget the $30 bullet train. 🚄✨ You can travel between Kyoto and Osaka in a literal Zen garden on wheels for just ¥400 (US$2.60).

Most people rush onto the Shinkansen, but they miss the Hankyu Kyo-train Garaku. It’s a Ryokan-style masterpiece designed to look like Old Capital Kyoto. Every car represents a different season—complete with tatami mats, bamboo screens, wooden floors, and real rock gardens (tsubo-niwa). 🎋🪨

⭐️Trip Facts (save for later):
Route: Hankyu Kyoto Line (Limited Express)
Price: Standard Fare (no reservation fee)
Vibe: Traditional Kyoto Machiya architecture

We put together a free 1-page Garaku Train Guide so you don’t get lost at the station!

It includes:

This is Osaka—the street food capital of Japan where the only rule is kuidaore (eat until you drop). 🤤

If you are planning a trip to Japan, save this post because you cannot leave Osaka without trying these three ultimate street food staples:

Takoyaki: Piping hot, crispy octopus balls drenched in savory sauce and Japanese mayo. 🐙
Okonomiyaki: A thick, savory cabbage pancake packed with pork belly and topped with dancing bonito flakes.🥬
Kushikatsu: Perfectly deep-fried, golden skewers of meat and veggies dipped in a rich, tangy sauce.🍢

The neon lights of Dotonbori are buzzing, the steam is rising from the griddles, and the smells are absolutely unreal.

Which one are you grabbing first? Drop your choice in the comments! 🥢👇

Did you see the last stone statue? Tucked away in the hills of Arashiyama, Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple is home to 1,200 unique Rakan statues, each with its own “personality.” 🗿

The secret history: These aren’t ancient relics. In the 1980s, amateur sculptors hand-carved these Rakan statues to help rebuild the temple after a bad storm. Because they weren’t professional artists, they carved things from their real lives. You’ll find statues boxing, holding cameras, and even drinking sake! 🍶

💡 Kyoto Insider Tip (Save for your trip!): Before heading to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, take the bus to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji first. Then enjoy a beautiful downhill walk through the Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street back to the bamboo groves. It’s the best way to see the traditional side of Kyoto without the uphill hike! 🎍

👇Which statue in this carousel matches your Friday mood? We’re definitely the last one (happy it’s the weekend!).

✨Tag a friend who needs to add this to their Japan bucket list!
