Just wanted to let people know the sad news that our gorgeous Courtney passed away peacefully just before 11 pm on Saturday 2nd May. She had been unwell with a virus and in hospital for the past 12 days and passed away with multiple organ failure. We are all devastated & heart broken and it has left a huge whole in our life after caring for Courtney 24/7 It’s just going to take us time and learn to move forward as a family and as a couple do things that normal couples do. 😞 😢💔 by @3231haven
Bit of black and white fun with @octonautslover97 for a change. Happy how it turned out given its totally lite by natural light only indoors. #surf #surfer #surfboard #portrait #wetsuit #naturallightphotography #blackandwhite #indoors #nikonphotography by @3231haven
Can not beat a good beach day. @sunnychick3231 in her favorite place. #beach #beachdays #summervibes #summer #aqua #bluewater #blondehair #blondeshavemorefun #roamingsunseekers #strawhat #southaustralia #yorkpeninsula @yorkepeninsula @southaustralia @roamingsunseekers by @3231haven
Bit of DJI image capture from KI I don’t use it a lot, sort of find the whole video thing a bit not me, maybe it’s because I grew up around photography or I just can’t be bothered with hours of editing video on a screen, when I would prefer to be doing other things not screen related. Guess it has its place, but I do miss the days when this platform was just about photos and real people, my images are a capture in time of life, nothing more, life is not about followers, likes, or trying to go viral. That saying “life is short” is so very true, being successful on social media of any kind doesn’t mean you have lived or are living your best life what ever that is. Taking the time to enjoy the space you are surrounded in is living your best life. Today marks 6 months since our beautiful little girl Courtney’s passing, major life changing moments have a way of showing you what really is important and also it gives you an insight into people, how they react or don’t react. Everyone handles grief differently or hearing the news about someone’s loss, but you do wonder what sort of world or community we live in, sometimes with peoples reactions or lack of reaction. by @3231haven
Stokes Bay, little gem of a find. Few locals out enjoying the swell on hand. Only shooting with 70-200 f2.8 by hand, so things are more pulled back than my normal shots. Great little cafe looking out of the lineup for those interested. Generally carry a couple of boards with me when we travel, but this trip was meant to be somewhere completely different, so I brought nothing with me. So was a bit frustrating watching sets roll through with no surfers making the connection. by @3231haven
Something about pure raw ocean energy that draws every surfers attention. Offshore days with empty lineups as far as the eye can see. First three images a collection from remote location which looked like it had possible jet ski access. Last two images from another location this morning with a light onshore conditions, only for the extremely brave, I would suggest, had all the markings of great white territory. by @3231haven
The sights over Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre currently are just amazing, it was well worth the effort to get up to Marree between all the storms and score a perfect morning flight of blue skies & no wind. Looking forward to seeing these images on a much larger screen. Most of the bird life has already left the lake system due to the salt increase, as the water slowly disappears. Certainly happy with the images I managed to get on the flight onboard @aridairflights will keep me busy for hours editing. by @3231haven
Day 5. Our last day in Queenstown, before flying out later in the arvo. So Bella wanted to experience a highland cow, so there are 2 options available in the Queenstown area, we chose the Deer Park Heights - scenic drive which you could see from our hotel. It’s a 1 off cost for a vehicle regardless of amount of passengers and they limit the amount of vehicles per day. Well worth the money and you see a range of animals, some you can get out of vehicle to interact with, others you need remain in the vehicle. The highland cows you had to remain in the vehicle and luckily they did not run their horns along the side of the hire vehicle. Conditions ranged from light snow, freezing wind, mist and light rain in the lower section. Managed to grab a couple of shots of the deer in the highest peak area. Also once we finished we headed to the Queenstown golf club for well earned coffee & a bit of lunch, before setting off to the check in at the airport. Busy 5 days, a lot of driving, fun times, laughing and yes we will be back. Flew with @virginaustralia Stayed at @thereeshotel Car hire @gorentals.nz with snow chains Snow gear hire @snopro_rentals Ate mostly at pubs Booked everything online Tips Car parking free after 6pm, but it fills up quick Restaurants you will need to book Town centre is very busy/noisy at night hence why we stayed out of town. Main road from Frankton to Queenstown is very busy at peak times ( crawling pace) by @3231haven
Day 4. Continues If you head north out of Glenorchy there is a place called Paradise, which is starting to get attention of Tourists to the area. If you drive further along the road about 5 mins you will come to the first image, in my opinion it’s even better. This road is a dead end and would suggest if you don’t have a 4wd going beyond the first water ford may not be a good. At the end of the road after a few water fords, a large washed out gravel section you come to a place called Chinamans Bluff, been here a couple of times can range from full snow, ice, frost and conditions like shown in the 2,3&4 images. The dart river runs right next to the parking area, if you look closely at the 4th image Ange is just a small dot in the photo. It’s also an avalanche area if you proceed further up the river in winter. Ange enjoyed the experience taking heaps of nature photos etc. Next stop after back tracking was a small place we stumbled upon called Kinloch, just a small retreat with a few other houses and a gorgeous cafe, which makes everything images 6,7,8&9 were taken at this location and basically just us for lunch with and amazing view. The final images is the road back out of Kinloch, we did drive to a place called greenstone further down the road , again more 4wd then 2wd. 1 day to go and might share some details like diesel cheaper then petrol in NZ , and it’s cheaper then here also by @3231haven
Day 4. Time to split up again, Nath & Bella hit the slopes again and Ange & myself head north up to Glenorchy. Picture perfect day, not a breath of wind, sun out, jackets and thermals on. Easy 1 drive from Queenstown, it’s just getting a little too popular these days regardless of the time of day, hence why I took a shot of the back of the boat house then the front like everyone else does, way to many tourists in buses that are on an agenda and not prepared to wait their turn. Next stop is way up north which you can just see in the first image, a place you need a 4wd to do as a number of water crossing, sometimes frozen rivers, ground and ice covered trees. It’s a bit warmer than it normally is, so see how we go. by @3231haven
Day3. The day continues at Arrow town for lunch and a stroll through the shops, lots of great Art, clothing & cafes. Didn’t really take any photos. Was just too busy with people everywhere, getting a carpark was nearly as bad as trying to get a carpark at the Aireys top shops on a weekend. After Arrow town we back tracked to Moke Lake which is on the west side of Queenstown heading towards Glenorchy. Well worth the drive in and certainly less busy, can camp here. Would be amazing after a good snowfall, it’s know for have a amazing reflection in the lake late in the day, if there is one thing I learnt travelling with Courtney, it’s live for the moment, as nothing can be perfectly planned unless you are going to spend days waiting for that one moment, which may not come while your travelling in that location. by @3231haven
Day 3. The fun continues ! If there is one jet boat ride to do in Queenstown, it’s the Shot Over, it’s worth every cent. When I told the other three I had booked us in to do it, they were like ok with a bit of he is over selling this. Well 30sec in and they had smiles from ear to ear and were hooked. Last time I did the Shot Over was 40yrs ago in boardshorts on New Year’s Day, this time it was gloves, rain jackets, thermals, beanie and thankfully the grab rails are heated. We are located in the back row for those interested. by @3231haven
