Another awesome beach day at Flaherty Beach today. Courts seems to be back on track and more like her normal self, but still a little tired. So we are just taking it slow, still amazes us how empty the beaches are on such picture perfect day’s, but it just make it easier to get away from the crowds when you have a 4x4

Tomorrow is going to be a extreme fire day here on the Yorke Peninsula with very high winds, so we will be staying put and not venturing very far for the next couple of days until things settle down. by @fxo_au

Amazing what 36 hrs of sleep does. We were thinking when we woke up this morning, that we would be making a call at midday on whether to head home. True to form, Courtney was yapping away at first light, eyes wide open like nothing had happened over the last few days.
So we decided to head to the beach for a lazy day in the sun, which was just what we all needed.
Also first run with the new updated beach wheel chair that Courtney seems to sit a lot better in.

Vivonne Bay, what a little gem of a location.
A place where you can pretty much be the only footsteps on the beach, a place where you can tuck yourself away in a little corner out of most wind conditions. It has that classic SA water colour, white sand and a feeling of total isolation.
Campground is good, limited spots for caravans in the 19ft + range, even has power if you need it. by @fxo_au

Emu Bay and not a soul to be seen, had the whole beach to ourselves, certainly one to put on your list when visiting Kangaroo Island. The key is the weather, need to make sure it’s very light winds or offshore.
Spent a few nights in the gravel campground which is around 100m from the beach, had a cool little beach cafe and at dusk there are fairy penguins at the pier or just near the entrance to drive onto the beach. Beach sand is firm, so don’t need to air down your tyres by @fxo_au

After 3 long days driving, a day to wash all the mud etc, off the whole setup, we boarded the ferry across to Kangaroo Island, it was really luck which got us on the ferry, no planning, no campsites pre booked, just a phone call and spot late in the day which had opened up on one of the last crossings before the service was to shut for a few days. To enable the ferry boarding ramps to be modified for the new ferries, so hope when we finally get back to the main land it will be on the drive on/ drive off setup and no reversing 🤞 by @fxo_au

Heading south we dropped in to Farina to see what all the fuss is about, it’s only open for 6 weeks of the year and we were well outside that window. Now we know what’s there, and will put it in the memory bank of possible stop overs when travelling back this way for an overnight camp.

@sunnychick3231 checking out the underground bakery entrance, but has confirmed that given it’s not a sourdough bakery, it’s not high on the list of must visit for her. by @fxo_au

Marree Hotel.
The weigh in for the flight over lake Eyre the next day. Ended up camping behind the pub, it was a complete mud bath everywhere else, due to the rain. It’s tight but you can fit a caravan this size in the limited spots next to the pub, but you will need to be early to get them.
We changed our plans the next day after the flight and head south again, Oodnadatta Track was closed and lucky we did as it’s still not fully open yet for towing 3.5T caravans all the way through. by @fxo_au

It’s a field of purple currently in some areas of the Flinders Ranges it’s totally amazing compared to the normal scenery. Unfortunately it’s a weed not a native flower, but it does put a distinct look to the Flinders Ranges that we haven’t seen before. by @fxo_au

Rawnsley Park was never on our trip plan, but it became our base for a few days while we waited out a storm front that was coming through the region in a couple of days.
1. The view from our campsite in the unpowered section
2. The first day we got early and did the Wilpena Pound lookout walk, this the view half way up
3. @sunnychick3231 rest at the top
4. It’s the first large hike we have done together in over 28yrs, so we captured the moment.

This hike is rated difficult. think that’s an under estimate of the challenge it is, certainly not for those that are not fit. Around 2km’s of climbing up a very rocky steep track, then down again and 11.6km in total. by @fxo_au

We had talked about going and doing this flight, it’s hard to believe we have done it. We had planned to do it out of William Creek as we traveled the Oodnadatta track, unfortunately Mother Nature put a stop to that and we ended up doing it out of Marree.
These are the only images I have edited so far and I shot 2 full cards on the flight. We did the early flight with both south & north lakes sections, it was truly breathtaking and worth every cent.
So we have completely changed plans now and are on route to a totally different environment, we had already sat for a week waiting for a window to do the Oodnadatta track, and the weather went from bad to a shit show with the red stuff becoming like paste, with water everywhere. Could sit there for weeks with the current weather environment as it is. We will try again in the future, yet again. by @fxo_au

So it’s been an interesting few weeks, life is very different now and it’s just hard to get your head around what has really happened. Baby steps, each day as it comes and supporting each other.
So to keep my mind busy, I have been working on a GVM spreadsheet tool given we had weight issues last year with our setup, it can be modified to suit any vehicle, you can add accessories, passengers etc. So l’m interested is this something people would be interested in purchasing? and if so what would you be prepared to pay for a one off buy. Can do both *.xls or apple numbers.
Think some Next Gen Ranger owners might be in for a surprise. by @fxo_au
