There’s a 104 days of alpine season then fall comes along just to end it 🎶🎶🎵🙄

I had a productive summer full of ebs and flows in the alpine, and I don’t really know what I want to focus on next but I’m excited for some variety! Here are some Boulders! by @34nnasca

In 2016 I watched Valley uprising for the first time, late one night in a sober living house with my roommate and climbing mentor. When presented with the dichotomy of Warren Hardings absurd style and proclivity for farcing Vs. Royal Robbin’s cerebral almost spiritual ideal of the mtns, I was first inspired by Harding the most. But In the years after I thought maturing as a climber meant shifting more towards the Robins’ side of things.

I read Twight’s justification for an elitist attitude😂, fetishized the idea of spiritual growth coming from some big push at the edge of my abilities, and my dumb ass even refused to use Burros to approach basecamps when I went to Peru.😂😂😂
Somewhere along the way it started to feel like all those high falootin’ ideals were just junk standing in between me and the experience itself.

Truth is, facing adversity often feels a lot more like a farce than some struggle to ascend to our highest selves and @j.bryancillo and my adventure on the black wall yesterday was definitely a farce for the books! Something about keeping a light spirit is just so extremely effective in the mountains.… so it goes 😉 by @34nnasca

In 2017 I labored after many a V7, one weekend even putting 100+ attempts into the classic Stonefort problem Heroin outside of Chattanooga. (I returned to school that Monday with the wildest back pain from holding the position before the dyno for so long)😂😂

It’s been about since 2017 that I’ve really put sustained effort into Bouldering as a discipline. It fell to the wayside as I learned how to get myself up bigger chunks of rock & ice. In 2023 I rediscovered it, and since then it’s turned into an ever deepening journey of understanding climbing movement and its subtleties in ways I couldn’t have even conceived of back in 2017

Today I sent 3 V7s, one as a flash and the other two within 5 well calculated & measured, high quality attempts.
Ticking the number and putting it firmly under my belt is nice I can’t lie, but what’s keeping me inspired and truly excited to keep bouldering is how it feels to learn the language of the rock better; like each chunk of stone is waiting for you to come read it, try hard on it, and maybe unlock the right secrets that allow you to climb to the top of it. And then how deeply you need to be able to sense in your body to master the movement
In conclusion, Bouldering is a healthy part of a balanced trad climbers breakfast, and it’s good to warm up before climbing hard, even though nothing feels sillier than jumping jacks in chacos 😛 by @34nnasca

What a freshman season! Couldn’t have done it without a lil help from the upperclassmen, I stand on the shoulders of the horses gorillas and dogs who came before us! 😉 by @34nnasca
