Our four person siege of a route called Black Snake in the Black Canyon. With @34nnasca @j.bryancillo and Aaron.
This thing was pretty hard. Sustained.
I led P2 P6 and P8 (we think we got off route for 8 but it was still burly, and junky).
Really high quality climbing otherwise.
I only sent P1 clean and that was on TR so I hope to return to this one.
I was unprepared for how sharp the inside of the off width cracks would be. Lots of calcium deposits made it feel like I was grinding my arms on a cheese grater. Definitely need long sleeves which I did not bring.

About a month ago on July 18 @34nnasca and I established a route on the east apron of Mt Bierstadt and had a stellar time. I wanted to wait until Nick shared since it’s his route.

The approach is just 1 mile, and with the Mt Blue Sky road open again, this area is my new favorite venue for ultra-accessible alpine climbing, or as I like to call it, “Redneck Alpinism”: drive all the way up to 14k and fire off technical routes in a few hours car to car. Also the FFA is still available, so go get it!

Nick mentioned he thinks this unclimbed crack could go at 10c, and after he got through the crux I asked him what he thinks it goes at, and he thought about it and said “I think 10c!” 🤣 homie no-scoped the grade

I had the pleasure of trundling the only obvious widowmakers from the “minor choss” section in the first pitch. The rock quality is honestly really good and will clean up so nicely. Between cleaning while onsighting and needing to retrieve cam sizes needed further up, Nick did not quite get the crux onsight free - but I wouldn’t have either, I barely pulled it together to free it on the follow, and I think it’s proper 10c.

Thank you Nick for letting me in on your stellar eye and beta for the route! It was such a fun clear day in the sky dancing and running around with mountain goats and pulling on fresh rock!🤘thanks for being an excellent and fun alpine partner!

Scenes from a lil scramble in the flatties this weekend. I made it all of 80 feet before wanting to rope up 🙂‍↕️ (Stairway to Heaven 5.3)

For the last good weather window I was in Chaltén, Nick and I decided to attempt to follow the Torre skyline for as long as the weather and our skills would allow. We hiked into Noruegos Camp on February 2nd. The next day, we approached the route Festerville on Standhardt. Not having taken the path of least resistance, it took us longer to get to Col Standhardt than we had planned. After doing a short rappel from the col, we were at the base of the route.

After pulling our rope, some loose rocks came down with it, landing on our rope and giving it a nasty core shot almost right in the middle. We decided to continue, leading on the slightly longer end and fixing the line before reaching the core shot. Making slow progress by climbing only half rope-length pitches, we decided to bivy on top of pitch six.

The following morning was quite cold, and most of our gear was layered with a light rime. We got a slow start as we waited for the rock to warm up. Making slow and steady progress, we had another bivy just beneath the summit. The next day, we climbed the last section of snow and ice to the summit, then rappelled Exocet.

Three years with the one who makes my world go ‘round! ❤️‍🔥 @34nnasca I can’t believe you’ve loved me since even before I had bangs and I can’t believe I get to be your girl. In the immortal words of Fruit Bats… I love you, decidedly.
