Day 16: Heading home! Travel day plus Tracey’s birthday. By the time we are home, close to a 24-hour day (minus naps on the plane) because of the early flight, long connection, and six hour time change. Today was the first real day of rain we’ve seen - we’ve been lucky with the weather. It’s been an amazing trip, but also the longest we’ve ever been away from Abby, Kenzie, Connor and the dogs… we are ready to be home with them! And huge happy birthday to my forever travel companion 😘❤️ taken in Frankfurt Airport by @3_creatures

Day 15: Stockholm, Sweden. Last day. Hard to believe it’s been over two weeks. Got up early to watch the ship thread its way into port amongst the hundreds of inlets and small islands here. It felt very much like taking one of the steamships thru Muskoka, if you did that at sunrise. This city was founded around 1250, a tiny bit before our Muskoka towns, and sits on a series of 13 connected islands. Lots of character in old town. Ended with our new cruise friends and favourite wait staff for the final few meals on board. And the staff surprised Tracey with a birthday cake in our room (1 day early). If you have a chance to take a cruise with @vikingcruises , do it. The ship is great, the food is amazing, and the staff are unbelievable. taken in Old Town, Stockholm, Sweden. by @3_creatures

Day 14: Tallinn, Estonia. Very cool medieval city. Not as affected by WWII and still has many buildings in active use that date to the 15th century, including a Pharmacy that has operated continuously in the same building since 1422. Walked narrow cobblestone streets that have been there since the 1300s. Strong Danish influence from 800 years of danish rule up until the 20th century. Afterwards had another amazing afternoon and evening back at the ship, with yet another gorgeous sunset at sea. taken in Tallinn Old Town by @3_creatures

Day 12: Gdansk, Poland. Tracey’s motherland. Lucky to have another warm sunny day. Started with a tour of Malbork castle, a UNESCO world heritage site and the largest castle in the world, by area - built in the early 13th century. Restored after WWII. Very cool - four lines of defense in the original medieval design, active archeological digs still happening. Bakery, brewery, slaughterhouse, blacksmith, foundery, barracks, etc., fully self-sufficient. The photos and description don’t begin to do it justice - truly remarkable. Lunched at a place called Brovarnia, a converted grainery from 1690 that’s now a hotel and restaurant, had some delicious perogi. Afterwords, had a walking tour of Gdansk. Gorgeous city with a significant Dutch influence. Exceeded expectations. taken in Gdańsk, Poland by @3_creatures

Day 11: a great sunny day on the incredibly cute tiny farming island of Bornholm, Denmark. Only ~25km in diameter and ~150km in circumference (and no, I didn’t check if that math actually maths). The round church was built in 1250, originally as a defense against Vikings. Also saw Hammershus, a large castle from ~1300 on top of a 75M cliff. Then walked around the town of Ronne… love all the cobblestone streets and cute little houses. Ended with a sunset dinner up on the top deck of the ship. taken in Bornholm, Denmark by @3_creatures

Day 10: docked in Warnemunde, Germany and took an early long train ride to Berlin for the full day. The wall. Reichstag. Holocaust memorial. Gorki park. Checkpoint Charlie. Much more. And now a train back to the ship for a late dinner. 😴 taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @3_creatures
