Get your dancing shoes on next Saturday for Gen-Iration Dubs! A free night of dub, dubstep, jungle and more at Havana Bar, brought to you by two generations of DJs with a passion for soundsystem culture.

Dirty Red of Acetate and more recently Beat Down Babylon, has been playing and hosting parties influenced by Jamaican roots music since 2006 in the capital.

James Faction has a long history in the Wellington sound system music scene, having started Future Funk in 1994, played with an array of internationals in the 90s and 00s, and produced jungle, dub, garage and dubstep since 2006.

Leo McKinnon is a relative newcomer on the scene who produces jungle and dub techno, and is fresh off the back of a release on Dance Therapy records.

3TC is a DJ and producer with releases on SPDO, The Big Fresh Collective & Glitz Club, as well as a self-released album. He organises dance music events in Pōneke with Corner Store and co-hosts Radioactive’s Te Āo Tech show. taken in Havana Bar by @3tcmusic

Corner Store presents: Dead Air II, powered by Torque Sounds.

Dead Air is an exploration into the emotional, atmospheric and leftfield, as well as an homage to independent radio. Student and online radio stations allow DJs and producers to experiment with less typical club forms, pushing forward electronic music. Come with open ears and open minds.

We’re super honoured to have Porcelain and Prose down from Tāmaki for this special event, and to showcase the Ōtautahi-Pōneke connection with selectors UV and 3TC. These four DJs will weave between genres and across the entire tempo range throughout the night.

3TC is a producer, DJ and jungle enthusiast. Originally from Ōtautahi but with roots firmly planted in Pōneke, he’s one of Corner Store’s founders & a regular host of Radioactive’s Te Āo Tech. Closing out the night, his set will blend digital and vinyl, with the records in his collection reflecting the kind of second hand jungle found across Aotearoa’s local record stores (Creeps, Herb’s, Penny Lane, Southbound). Most of these records come from a time in the mid to late 90s when jungle was cascading over the precipice of drum and bass. Expect a take on the old school mixed with local tunes and jungle revivalist sensibilities. taken in Valhalla by @3tcmusic

Step into the jungle this King’s Birthday weekend as Corner Store takes on Valhalla.

We’re super excited to be bringing junglist producer/DJ duo okty (AKL) and Paz (CHC) to Pōneke for this stop on their tour of Aotearoa, in celebration of upcoming collaborations on UK labels Motive Hunter and N4HC. Also pushing the jungle / drum & bass / hardcore / leftfield sounds on the night will be local selectors Unwell, Ohimesama Breaks and 3TC.
