PLEASE SHARE AND REPOST!
There are hardly any races for us 3-pedal guys anymore, and I think it would be a lot of fun to get a group together and run AT LEAST a bracket race. If you aren’t familiar with how bracket racing works, it basically evens the playing field: a slower car can race a faster car, with the slower car leaving first, and the goal is to run as close as possible to the time you dial in and ultimately to learn your car and drive better.

Maybe we could even do some heads-up/grudge racing if we get a few cars that are close in times. This is my favorite type of racing, but it’s hard to come by similar competition with everyone running transbrakes and engine swaps at normal events.

I need at least 8 cars to show up for us to make a class, so right now I’m just trying to see who would actually be interested. Any year, make, or model is welcome. The only requirement is 3 pedals and a manually shifted transmission!

Car grabs hard with the new 4.88’s!
Thank you @quick_performance for the quality 3rd member. I highly recommend their products for any rear-end and brake setup. I run their 11” drums on the road-course, street and strip as well as a 4.11 ratio QP built trutrac for the street and road-course. Never had 1 issue!

I drove up from San Diego to Sonoma on Friday, hauling the ’67 with the Highboy for the @norcalshelbyclub Mini-Nats Open Track Weekend. Made a stop in San Francisco, unloaded the Fastback, and got to enjoy it in its natural habitat for a little while before loading her back up and heading to Sears Point. @racesonoma

After that, I spent weekend racing and making new friends, had an absolute blast, and on Sunday the Mustang drove right back onto the trailer under its own power. Between the Highboy and the ’67, we made the whole trip without a single problem. @mmarco02_ rode shotgun the whole way & helped me out a bunch and I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Can’t wait to do it again soon!

And just a reminder, you don’t need to go out and buy a bunch of crazy suspension parts, big wheels, low-pro tires, or basically re-engineer the entire car to go out and have fun on a track. The ’67 is still very much a street/strip car, and I was keeping up with quite a few newer track cars that I probably had no business keeping up with…

Not bad for an old street/strip car ;)

I haven’t made a specific engine only post for the “289”, so here is all the info on it so you guys can stop bothering me (scroll for dyno vid and sheet)

It’s a stock 289 2.87” stroke by 4.120” bore, I’m using a @fordracing m6010 boss 302 block, @scatcrankshafts 4340 forged crank with 5.4 h-beam rods with @arpbolts 2000 rod bolts, DSS custom 2618 pistons, a pro-louvered @cantonracingproducts windage tray, @aviaid_oil_systems GT350R pan, @afr_heads 195 cnc heads and stud girdle, a @compcamsofficial solid roller (specs in build sheet) and their magnum xd rocker arms, @crowercams solid lifters, @manleyperformance valve springs, a @holleyperformance 750 hp classic, and an @edelbrockusa victor jr that I ported myself.

This combo made 538hp @ 7700 on a hot day (still climbing) and 389 lb-ft of torque at 6200. I was able to get 394 ftlbs on another pull, but made less peak. This was on California 91 octane from an Arco gas station. I believe if I used race gas and turned up the timing and rpm I would’ve made 550hp, but who cares, it’s in the car and it’s hauling ass now.

DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR STOCK 302 BLOCK 😂
A good cheap street combo I used to run was 165 AFR heads, stock 289 crank and rods with arp bolts, hydraulic roller Anderson n71 cam, 650dp, unported victor jr, 11:1, stock block which made 455 at 7100 and lasted me until I put a solid roller in it and made 507 and broke it. by @4speed_garage

Back in business with the 67

Thank you to everyone who has helped with this build! It’s been just under a year to get the engine finished and back in the car and it’s definitely better than ever! I missed going to the track and hanging with my friends & making new ones.

I have yet to put the 4.88s in and need to make some suspension (and driver) adjustments with the added power and torque the new engine makes, but besides that I still made a good PB and my 60’ times and MPH are already noticeable.
