Very happy with the results on me & my dad’s 436ci Pontiac: 496 hp & 530 lb-ft !!
The torque curve is what I really like. It makes 500+ lb-ft from 3600 rpm to 5200 rpm.

A lot of people know the shop I work for mostly as a “ford specialty” shop, but our Sr. Engine builder John Eldorhorst (pictured with me) has been building and getting performance out of Pontiacs since the 70s & is the man who has taught me how to blueprint, balance & assemble engines professionally since 2021. We love building GM, Ford, and Mopar products all the same! If you’re interested in getting anything from small machine work to a full on engine build, we have you covered @jbaspeed !

This started off as an early 70s 400 block which would’ve had a 4.120” bore & 3.750” stroke. I decided to go with a @molnartech 4” stroke crank and 6.7” big block Chevy h-beams with @kauffman_racing_equipment CNC ported heads, @racetecpistons 4032 flat top pistons at 4.165” bore, an old unknown single plane that seemed to be almost a perfect port match, a @cantonracingproducts oil pan, and a @schneidercams custom grind Hydraulic roller thats just mild enough to work with power brakes. I also decided to go with an easy 10:1 compression as it is a street engine & I wanted it to be forgiving to today’s terrible fuel.

Small block fords will always be my favorite engines, but there is something about a Poncho that has this cool factor I cant really put my finger on. Maybe it’s that light metallic blue 🤩… taken in JBA Speed Shop by @jbaspeed
