Photo dump from this Sunday's (10/11/2026) hurricane edition @jbaspeed cars and coffee. The rain apparently is pretty good at preventing photo bombers when taking photos.

Part 2 of 3: An accolade

In my 20s, recognition was the reward.
Blood, sweat and tears went into GTR289, and every accolade, magazine feature, or nod on the road felt like validation.

Three decades later, it hits different.

Calm. A little unexpected.

Mustangs by the Bay was really about seeing great cars, meeting new people, and spending time with friends and family.

And then they called my name.

My first accolade in nearly three decades.

Still the same car.
Different vibe.
Same joy.

I felt young again. 🤍

Photo dump 2 from @mustangclubofsd #mustangsbythebay2026 this year. Was a hot one for sure. I didn't get a chance to take as many pix as I wanted but posting up what I got. Tried tagging those I know, help out if I missed them.

30 years ago, my grandpa Hank “The Crank” machined this crankshaft from a piece of billet steel. It was later left over from a surplus order for the legendary NASCAR team Robert Yates Racing.

Three decades later, that same crankshaft is finding a new home in our 1965 Mustang. 🔥

We’re using this in a 363 Stroker engine Paired with CP-Bullet Series Twisted Wedge Pistons, Carrillo H-Beam Forged Rods, aluminum heads, and a full EFI setup and we are hoping to push for 650-700 horsepower

A huge thank you to Sonny Bryant Racing for bringing this piece of history back to life—balancing, polishing, knife-edging, and refining it into the heart of our 363 stroker.

And to my Uncle Scotty, who saved this crankshaft all these years and helped spec it out the right way.

From Hank’s shop floor, to NASCAR, to a 1965 Mustang—this crankshaft has a story of its own. Now it’s ready to help put 650+ horsepower to the ground and turn this Mustang into a true track beast. 🏁🔥
