Ekphrastic Writing —- “Ginikanan”

The title, Ginikanan, translates from my native tongue, Bisaya, to parent/ origin.

Ekphrastic writing is essentially a visceral reimagining of an existing body of art. I wrote this as an assignment and prompt from professor Mark Durant. by @515archives

Scans of my last completed notebook. (2024)

Trying something new 🥸
I put too much thought into what, why, or how I do things outside of this platform. So I might as well showcase them too. I think what a waste it would be if didn’t share the beautiful world that I was taking in.

Putting out my unpolished processes instead of always worrying about the final output. My drafts, and small moments in between. My archives.

I make a journal every new “season” that I’m entering. I measure, cut, and stitch each page, and bind it together with its leather backing.

Every season I have an anchor and a theme. This precious journal I’m showcasing was for the year of the 8, and learning what expansion means for me (hence the spider that I engraved in the shape of the number).
