One little monkey - who can keep a number of adults busy, everyday of the week 🐒 but we found tricks to keep him busy, too 😉

So I never really knew the importance of art for kids, especially since they can’t hold the paint brush or crayons properly and can’t colour inside the lines etc. But A is SO busy and focussed here that when I asked him what he’s making, he took a few moments AFTER finishing the piece to consider each line and what it represents (I obviously couldn’t help but draw some little bits here and there 🤪 can you spot my beautiful 🍅 and 🌳?).

Most toddlers are masters of the moment - they aren’t going to create a finished product, they just love the way it feels to do this ‘paint thing’. Let go, parents, allow the children to enjoy the process of creation.

I could go on and write about the various emotional, mental and social benefits including the development of fine and gross motor skills but let’s just all have fun, okay? 😬 taken in New Delhi by @5onam

I love open-ended toys for kids 😍 my son may be too young to appreciate this beautiful rainbow right now but I’m building his collection slowly.

Secondly, there are many many many benefits of open-ended toys (kids can play independently as there’s no instructions i.e., free play, they are also encouraged to simply ‘think’ you know like ”if I do this then let’s see what happens”, they’re also gender-neutral and very importantly, free from batteries so no annoying sounds! 🙌🏽). Such toys happen to mostly be made of natural materials like wood so they are eco-friendly, long-lasting and also, look beautiful. I would say they can even be passed down through the generations ❤️ how lovely is it to imagine that your child’s present day toys could someday be your grandchild’s? ☺️

Now that life has changed (and how! 🤪 I’m still kind of struggling to find my feet), I realise that as a person, I have become SO much more patient and much less judgmental of the people around me. Motherhood or let me say parenthood (#equalparent) can put so much pressure to do our best all the time - the parents who go out to work and miss their babies’ first everything, the parents who decide to stay home and raise the baby and miss that prized promotion, the parents who decide to take a holiday without the baby and feel guilty about just having fun as a couple...I could really go on. But honestly, each such decision has so much thought behind it that I now know better than to judge the person on why they do what they do. Everyone is fighting their own battle, right? So let’s all stop comparing and raise each other up and have fun!

Fantastic food, yummy cocktails and the most amazing view (next to the river 😍): @thelazygoosegoa, we’re coming for more soon!
Also for parents of toddlers: they’re extremely ‘baby friendly’ with a comfy high chair (not common in Goa) and provide customised meals, and have helpful staff. A rare combo!
