Went to a Jungle concert by myself recently and this beautiful woman Hillary spoke to me while in line and we hit it off for the rest of the night!

I remember her asking me where I was from I told her here she said “oh so we cousins” (she's Nigerian American) and we danced like cousins all night 😂

Thank you for talking to me, For insisting I take pictures, dancing with me, getting us drinks and keeping me company. Having you there with me made my experience so much better 🥺❤️

Moments like this make me love being a human and Black woman so much. They remind me to never be scared to go out alone, be kind and be open to receiving love and you never know who you'll meet. by @7souljah

What a beautiFULL weekend!

First of all, thank you @mr.producerrr & @deya.productions for the invitation and for creating such a beautiful, intentional space for so many amazingly talented creatives to engage in conversation, jazz, food, and each other's paths, style, presence, and processes! I’m so excited to see Return West and all that’s birthed from Deya! Recognizing Africa and African diaspora culture as a blueprint for so much innovation in fashion, film, and global culture, while charging guests to RETURN, is so important, especially now!!

It was such a timely experience especially after a day before having the first episode of Face in Spaces I co-directed with @davemclaurindp debut during @goodneighbordesigncamp by @goodneighborshop an amazing third space rooted in honoring the culture, people, and hands that shape their lives and identities through coffee, space, community, and design!

Culture, care, and community are the core values that brought my tribe @sanou.prod together and I truly believe the world we build is dependent on us cultivating these same values on a radical level every day

I’m full of so much gratitude and so much love for the people in my life who speak my name in rooms I have not touched yet and the ones I have.

The nature of DC, PG County, and Baltimore is beautifully Global and African diasporic and I have so much gratitude for my African and Native American ancestors who were born here, enslaved here, survived here, and resisted here because that history and struggle is what allows me and the conversations and spaces like the ones I graced this weekend to flourish!

Still taking it all in.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the @cllctivly gathering at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, and the category was Summer Dandyism with your own personal twist. I’m so proud to share that together, we raised $12,035 for the @africandiasporaalliance x Liberation Seeds

And then came an incredible surprise: we received additional funding through the Kindred Abundance Fund in partnership with @muse.360.

I am deeply grateful to every person who donated, shared, encouraged, showed up, and believed in this work. Every contribution is an investment in Black youth, Black Studies, and the continued building of spaces where our young people can learn, lead, and imagine a more just and humane world.

Thank you for showing up for us and showing up for the vision.

And if you’re not already following @africandiasporaalliance or @innerpeace33 tap in. There is so much more to come, including updates on Liberation Seeds, Youth of the Diaspora, and the next chapter of this work.

WE CAN AND WE WILL ✨🤏🏾

CHEERS TO NEW BEGINNINGS ☄️✨

As we close out this iteration of Youth of the Diaspora, we’re also making space to return YOTD to the youth, to once again become a space that is youth-led, youth-shaped, and youth-owned.

Because this work was never meant to be something we simply do for young people. It is something we build with them.

And as they grow, so does their capacity to lead, teach, mentor, create, organize, and imagine new possibilities, not only for themselves, but for the young people coming behind them.

Our role is to continue world-building alongside them, while trusting them with the knowledge, tools, and space to shape what comes next.

The beauty of this work is watching young people become the very people we once hoped they would become, and then realizing they are capable of becoming so much more.

This isn’t goodbye to Youth of the Diaspora.

It’s a new beginning.

A new generation gets to decide what comes next.

And we can’t wait to see what they build.

As we step into this next chapter building our African-centered educational institute we need our community to build with us.

We’ve raised $11,830 with @cllctivly so far and still going!!!

If you want your donation to go further, donate during “power hours” when your donation (even $1!) can help us win Bonus prize! (Tip: Set a timer and donate when it goes off)

$1000 - Most Donors Raised: 6:00 PM EST - 7:00 PM EST

$2000 - Most Donors Raised: 10:00 PM EST - 11:00 PM EST

Organizations with the most donations and donors during these times will be gifted up to $1000-$2000 making your gift go even further.

Give. Share. Invest. Build with us.

Because the future isn’t something we wait for.

We build it COLLECTIVELY.

Chasin’ My Dreams with @africandiasporaalliance through @cllctivly again this year. 🖤

Eight years ago, I began my journey as a nonprofit educator, and Lord knows it has not been an easy ride. If you’re in nonprofit work, YOU KNOW.

But Black Studies & education is truly my passion, and I will never give up on the power of teaching youth the rich history, theory, and analysis that lives within Black Studies. Because Black Studies is World Studies. It is just as valuable to humanity as any other field of study, and that will never be up for debate with me.

This past year, I went from facilitator to stepping into the role of Co-Director of Youth of the Diaspora. And as YOTD reaches its 11-year mark, we are shifting toward our next chapter: building an African-centered Freedom School, Liberation Seeds, where I’ll serve as Development Director.

Although Youth of the Diaspora will return to being youth-led, this work has never been about singular programs or grant cycles. It has always been about creating spaces where Black youth can see themselves, understand their history, and feel empowered to imagine a limitless future.

Because they are the next generation of scholars, leaders, entrepreneurs, teachers, activists, politicians, founders, CEOs, and quite literally, world-builders.

But what are WE collectively investing in them?

My Co-Director and friend @innerpeace33 has me visualizing becoming the elder that our future students will run to, look up to, and one day thank for helping create a beautiful space for learning, empowerment, and love.

And that is why I’m asking my community, followers, friends, and supporters to show up and show out.

If you believe in identity-affirming education, culturally grounded learning, Black Studies, and investing in the next generation…WE NEED YOU.

Every donation, big or small, helps us move one step closer to making Liberation Seeds a reality.

Thank you for believing in this work, supporting this vision, and investing in the future with us. 🖤
