21/6/26: Summer Solstice meets London grit.

The longest day of the year presents a great opportunity to get out and drive, and what better way to enjoy the delights of one of the world’s most iconic cities than with a dawn raid right through it with like-minded Porsche enthusiasts.

This was 9WERKS’ third annual dawn drive through England’s Capital on summer Solstice (it’s amazing how many Solstice events have sprung up in the Porsche community since!), offering a unique opportunity to drive London’s storied streets while the City sleeps.

Meeting in town for 04:43 (sunrise), this little adventure brought @9.werks Driven Not Hidden Collective members together from as far as Exeter, Bristol, and the Wirral, right into the heart of the Capital, for an intimate whistle-stop tour of London’s finest landmarks, with the roads entirely to ourselves.

A unique way to enjoy a (very, very) early morning Porsche adventure, our City Summer Solstice drive is always one of our highlights of our 9WERKS DNHC calendar, and 2026 was probably our favourite yet. A BIG thanks to the fine souls who joined us, and @royalthamesyachtclub for the coffees & croissants to finish. 🏁

It was a huge privilege to spend the afternoon with Mark Porsche last week, who delivered a tour of the unendingly inspiring @flat6ranch to 9WERKS.

Nestled in the heart of Porsche country in Zell Am See, the ranch is a glorious reinterpretation of the old farm house on the Porsche family estate, now paying a beautiful homage to Mark’s father, FA Porsche, designer of the iconic 911 sports car and 904 race car, and founder of Porsche Design.

If Zuffenhausen is the beating heart of Porsche, Flat 6 Ranch represents its soul: a glorious embodiment of the Porsche sports car, with some family inspiration and artefacts added for good measure.

Every last millimetre of this place has been thoughtfully considered: the precision of its overall layout and presentation is then decorated with a playfulness reflective of Mark’s character. The details are awe-inspiring… the more you look, the more your eyes will be rewarded.

The masterpiece of F6R was only beaten by Mark himself: a gracious and humorous man who was kind with his time, and happy to sit down with 9WERKS Radio and discuss the purpose of F6R, as well as Porsche legacy and the importance of Zell Am See. You can listen to that conversation now via your preferred podcast platform.

I drove away from F6R inspired and proud to drive a Porsche, and to have dedicated my last 15 years to Porsche journalism and storytelling. I hope my road ahead takes me back to F6R one day soon, the ultimate Porsche Arcadia in idyllic Austria.

Is this the best man cave in the world? Thank you, thank you, thank you Mark Porsche for a tour of the @flat6ranch. A truly remarkable building, built with so much care, quality, thought, experience and above all passion. Built just like the cars we all love.

Mark Porsche, the youngest son of the 911 designer Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, has put his heart and sole into building the ranch and somehow he also took his builder along for the ride! Mark was the 'architect' which is never an easy ride for the builder. I could not find one detail that was out of place, so many fine details everywhere.

This is not you usual man cave full of glitzy or clichéd items. Every item seems to have a story of why it is there, family cars, family toys, even that trainset are there for good reason. Mark was extremely generous with his time endulging us with so many stories as to why cars and items had made it into the building.

Everything about the building and interior is built to last and to be truly timeless, I have no doubt the building will feel just as good as it does now in decades to come. Truly remarkable.

A feature of particular note is the upper moving floor in the man room of the building, the big hand wheel assembles into the floor to drive the mechanism that pushes the floor out from the below the floor to extent it for big events, the pillars below roll along beams to support. The metalwork structure is outstanding in design and execution.

But perhaps the true highlight is the model trainset that is used to supply drinks from the bar to the whole of the upper lounge area, a true party piece that circles the lounge changing in levels, travelling under the floor, around the outside of the old grain stores and literally through the bar. Mark told a great story of why the train had to be included in the build.

I'm extremely proud that Mark took our very small gift of a Driven Not Hidden Collective pin and placed it in the display cabinet with so many other cool Porsche related items ♥️
