February 1988, Lake Hornavan, Sweden.
A near-standard Renault 21 Turbo (minor aero changes and raised boost), driven by journalist Jean-Pierre Malcher, set a production-car ice speed record of 250.610 km/h on studded Michelin tyres (246.9 km/h on snow tyres).
Organised by Auto Hebdo in collaboration with Renault and Michelin as a promotional stunt to showcase the new 21 Turbo’s stability and performance while testing winter tyres.
The record stood for 23 years until Juha Kankkunen broke it in 2011 with a Bentley Continental GT Supersports (330.695 km/h). Archive footage of the run.

Before World Superbike became the global stage for production-based racing, there was Formula TT.

Created in 1977 after the Isle of Man TT lost its Grand Prix World Championship status, the Formula TT Series kept the spirit of big-bike road racing alive. It started around the TT itself, then expanded to legendary road and road-style circuits like Dundrod, Assen, Vila Real, Sugo and Kouvola.

By the late 1980s, this championship was the battleground for some of the most iconic superbikes of the era — Honda RC30s, Bimota YB4s, Yamaha OW01s, Suzuki GSX-R750s, Kawasaki ZXR750s and the early Ducati superbikes.

The 1989 season went all the way to the final round at the Ulster Grand Prix. Steve Hislop had to win at Dundrod — and he did. But Carl Fogarty finished second, scoring enough points to become the 1989 Formula One TT World Champion.

It was one of the final chapters of Formula TT. As World Superbike grew bigger and more professional, Formula TT faded away, ending after 1990. But its DNA lived on: real roads, production-based monsters, and riders with unbelievable courage.

This was the bridge between the golden age of road racing and the superbike era.

0-300 Battle: JUN Super Lemon RII vs Top Secret RB26 Supra

Two of Japan’s most legendary top-speed machines, captured in the golden era of Video Option.

The JUN Super Lemon RII wasn’t just another yellow R33 GT-R — it became one of JUN Auto’s most iconic demo cars, famous for its wild aero, huge power, and its appearance with Jeremy Clarkson, where it showed the world just how extreme Japanese tuning had become.

Facing it is the Top Secret RB26 Supra, the gold A80 Supra made infamous by Smokey Nagata’s UK motorway run, where he attempted to hit 200 mph on public roads. Unlike most Supras, this one carried Skyline GT-R DNA with its RB26 swap, built for high-rpm speed and 0-300 km/h madness.

The 24H Le Mans Museum exhibition this year featured a varied and diverse selection of Endurance, F1, Rally, Rally Raid and other race cars.
I had been there in 2023 and was pleasently surprised by a 'whole new museum' to see and drool over.
Too many cars to post individually, but i leave you here what i think is a nice selection of some of the cars.

#GaragistaWorks update 🏎🚗 - Hey guys and gals, sorry i have not posted lately but as i said on previous posts i have been working on the game and my time is focused in that.
I got now to a point where i have the main game design and game code complete and i have started to build the game itself.
I am working to build the Race Engine, setting up AI opponents and race mechanics so its not too easy for you guys 😇😈!
Car market base is also in progress. Next steps are building the career path, staff, sponsors, livery editor (don't expect nothing fancy, im just a noob!).
Hopefully in 2 months i will have the first playable version ready for you guys to test - 1994 Season with full game mechanics.
I will then add the rest of the seasons in chapters (goal is to have 1994-2003 seasons with several championships and dynamic car market to match the game year).
Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated, please let me know in the comments!

Small request for the community.

As some of you know, I'm currently developing GaragistaWorks, a motorsport management game inspired by the atmosphere of 90s racing culture and classic racing games.

I'm looking for music that captures that feeling: garage evenings, busy paddocks, setup sheets, race weekends and long sunsets after a day at the track.

I'm most interested in:
• Downtempo
• Trip-Hop
• Acid Jazz
• Lounge
• Ambient Electronic
• Instrumental grooves

But i am open to other ideas and genres.

The project currently has no budget for commissioned music, so I'm not looking to hire composers at this stage.

However, if you're a producer and already have tracks that fit this vibe, and you'd like to see them featured in the game (with full credit), feel free to send me a DM.

I'd love to discover some hidden gems from this community.
