The first ever inaugural season of the 978HERS league just came to a completion last week.

The girls basketball league came down to six teams that consisted of players from Lowell, Tewksbury, Haverhill & Lawrence (Including More), ranging from seventh grade to high school seniors.

Hosted by the Collegiate Charter School in Lowell, MA, the Sparks won the championship against the Wings. 🏆

The 978HERS league was sponsored by @terance and the Terance Mann Complete Player Foundation.

The official 978ers Basketball League is in full effect once again. Something that was once a thought, became a reality in 2024 when a much needed annual league for 978’s own kids became real. Middle schoolers all the way up to new upcoming collegiate athletes participate every year in hopes to take home a championship and city bragging rights. 🏆🏀 by @978ers

The annual Billy G Classic takes place this weekend in Lowell, MA. It’s a free event dedicated to the late great Billy Gilmore, who had a huge impact on the youth in Lowell, specifically within the Boys & Girls Club. Proceeds go towards scholarships to a select few of kids that attend the club. You don’t want to miss this event. by @978ers

ICYMI we just published our first ever issue of the 978ers Magazine. Within the mag we highlighted the 200th Anniversary of Lowell (Bicentennial) along with Salem turning 400 as well.

We are pleased to announce our first ever issue of 978ers Magazine with a cover story of 978’s own Lil Rich.

Lil Rich is an music artist, producer, songwriter & engineer from Lowell, MA who’s went on to work with many A list musicians such as Big Sean, BIA, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Nas & many more.

Pivoting from producer to solo artist in 2021, Rich has put together a trilogy of projects starting with “It’s Purple At Midnite” (2021), to “Hyperviolet” (2024) and now his forthcoming album “Indigo Child” (2026).

Lowell’s own Urban Soul sat down with Rich to discuss some of his upbringing in the 978 as well as his new album.
