They say it takes a village, and this event is proof of that.

Huge shoutout to @mellodejour for having a vision 6 years ago, and to @terance for continuously pouring back into the city that raised him.

Blessed to be a small piece of something that’s grown into so much more than basketball, surrounded by an incredible group of people who continue to make it all possible.

Billy’s legacy continues to bring people together. ❤️🏀

Six years ago, I had an idea.

An idea to honor the life and legacy of William “Billy” Gilmore by creating something that would bring people together. Not just for a weekend of basketball, but for a weekend of community, love, and purpose.

Today, seeing teams and talent travel from all over the country to compete in Billy’s name is something I’ll never take for granted. What started as an idea has become something so much bigger than basketball.

The Billy G Classic is about creating a safe space where people of all ages can come together, reconnect, support one another, and make memories. It’s about giving the city something to look forward to every summer while continuing to give back through Billy’s legacy.

None of this would be possible without every single person who played a part in this weekend. Thank you my family, friends, our teams, coaches, players, officials, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, donors, and every fan who showed up and supported. Your belief in this event is what makes it special.

Most importantly, thank you to Billy. Your name continues to bring people together in a way that words can’t fully describe. Your legacy continues to impact lives, and we’ll continue doing everything we can to make you proud.

This is only the beginning. Let’s continue to grow the Billy G Classic, continue to strengthen our community, and continue giving back for years to come. ❤️🏀

See you all next summer. #billygclassic
