First, I thank God (Alhamdulillah). Without Him, none of this would be possible.

This degree is not just a certificate, it is sleepless nights, early mornings, deadlines, doubts, prayers and hard work that finally paid off.

From a fresher with a dream to a graduate of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and honored to have served as the General Secretary of DARUSO - SJMC 2025/2026. Leading, learning and serving you was the greatest part of this chapter.

To my family, friends, lecturers and everyone who held my hand along the way. Asanteni sana. This win is ours.

One chapter closed. The next one begins.

GRADUATED! 🎓

I don’t just take pictures, I tell stories.

I found myself behind the lens. Camera in hand, I feel most myself: focused, fearless, and free. I love the quiet moment before the click, the search for light, the way people become real when they feel safe.

Photography taught me to look closer, to feel deeper, to stay. It taught me that I don’t have to wait to be seen, I can be the one doing the seeing.

I am not just a girl with a camera. I am a woman with a vision, choosing my passion every single day. #women #photo #womanphotographer #camerasforgirls by @__.samrath.__

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the TuWezeshe Akina Dada, and so we learned, relearned and got inspired. This is not just a fellowship it’s a sisterhood and everything a girl/ woman needs. Thank you so much @forwarduk_ and @cdf_tanzania we won’t let you down! LET’S KEEP THE FEMININE SPARK ALIVE! #tenyearsanniversary #feminism by @__.samrath.__

DAY 05

Today humbled me.

We talked about something we don’t talk about enough - Risks and Safeguarding for Activists. That activism has a cost, and protecting yourself is part of the work.

Then DO NO HARM. Simple rule: Don’t post images that re-traumatize. Don’t use language that shames or blames. Use approaches that empower, include and respect.

And we finally broke down M&E - what we put in, what we do, what comes out, what changes in people, and what changes in society.

We were so happy to have Miss Fortunata Lemu, CEO of MY LEGACY Foundation, as our special guest. Her story on mentoring and leading with empathy really set the tone for the day.

My favorite reminder: people may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

DAY 04

Today we did something were told to write an advert for an ideal husband.

Not for a job, for a partner.

And suddenly the question changed from “who do I want” to “what does a healthy relationship actually need?” We listed it down. A fighter, not a controller. Someone who shares your values, who is honest, responsible, respectful. A leader, but one who listens.

Then came the hardest part: What are your boundaries? Because love without switched to advocacy. Why does it matter for social change? Because it amplifies unheard voices, it pushes for better policies and budgets, and it makes institutions answerable.

And to advocate well, we have to learn how to speak well. We learned the Sandwich Method. Positive feedback on top, area of improvement in the middle, positive feedback at the bottom. You can correct someone without crushing them.

We ended the day with reality check, how do we make our Social Action Projects actually happen? We learned to build a Resource Mobilisation Plan: map what you already have, identify gaps in money, people, skills and space, approach mentors and local organisations, seek in-kind support, document everything and plan how the impact will continue after the SAP. And a real Budget - prepared early, checked locally in TZS, tracking actual spending for venue, transport, refreshments, materials, printing, accessibility, safeguarding, facilitators time and a little contingency.

Today was about love and advocacy. Both need the same thing: respect, clarity, boundaries and a plan.

DAY 03;

Today we talked about LEADERSHIP, but not the kind they teach you in textbooks.

We learned that when women lead, everything changes. Better economies. More accountability and transparency. Better health, education and welfare policies. And real, sustainable national development. It is not just about having a seat at the table, it is about changing what is on the table.

Then we turned the mirror to ourselves:
What are my top 5 personal values?
What strengths do I already carry?
What behaviors do I need to unlearn?
How authentic am I with my team?
And how can I become a more effective leader?

The biggest lesson? Leadership is not about being a single hero at the top. Character and values matter as much as strategy. Leaders are human too, we deserve care and kindness.

And my favorite reminder from today: If you want to go fast, walk alone. But if you want to go far, walk together.

We are walking together.

DAY 02;

WE STARTED WITH THE HARDEST QUESTIONS.

Not what does the world want from us. But what do we like, respect and VALUE about ourselves?

Today at Tuwezeshe Akina Dada we stripped it back:
Who am I as a woman? What is my agency? Who am I in my community? And who told me I was less?

What stood out for me today is this: “I am never free if any other woman is unfree, even if her shackles are different from mine.”

We are not here to fit into the system. We are here to rebuild it.

My Rights. My Freedom.

DAY ONE: TUWEZESHE AKINA DADA FELLOWSHIP

No big speeches. Just introductions and real stories.
We connected as sisters, set our own rules, defined our objectives, and were welcomed into a space that actually feels like ours.

The journey to amplify young women’s voices has officially started. We are here. We are ready.

One thing I’ve learned recently is that you may find yourself in a place or position that doesn’t necessarily align with your dreams or interests. But that doesn’t mean you should back away.

Find the best in where you are. Learn from it. Grow through it. Take every lesson and opportunity you can, and most importantly, understand your WHY.

Not every position is the destination. Sometimes, it’s preparation for where you’re meant to go next.

And don’t wait for someone to give you a seat at the table.
