a full house. reservation confirmed. elegant, imposing, and yet somehow unpretentious — that’s how @bibendum.avignon receives you.

the dining room sits in a beautiful courtyard: low light, white tablecloths, white china, ambient music at exactly the right volume. classic french service without the stiffness that sometimes comes with it.

one detail that changes everything: drinks are ordered directly at the bar. you get up, walk through the restaurant, feel the place from different angles. a simple choice that shifts the whole experience.

we had devilled egg with crab meat and lime, escargots, and grilled veal liver with parsley and raspberry vinegar. everything well executed — the liver was the real highlight of the kitchen. after dinner, a dj playing the best classic house music.

we couldn’t resist. neither could the table next to us. vibes.

around €120 for two, drinks included (we shared a main course) excellent value for what it delivers.

o salão fica num courtyard belíssimo: luz baixa, toalhas brancas, louças brancas, música ambiente no tom certo. serviço clássico francês sem a rigidez que às vezes vem junto.

um detalhe que muda tudo: os drinks são pedidos diretamente no bar. você se levanta, anda pelo restaurante, sente o lugar de ângulos diferentes. uma escolha simples que transforma a experiência.

comemos ovo devilled com carne de caranguejo e limão, escargots e fígado de vitela grelhado com salsa e vinagre de framboesa. tudo bem executado — o fígado foi o destaque real da cozinha.

depois do jantar, um dj com as melhores house music clássicas. não resistimos. a mesa ao lado também não. vibes.

cerca de €120 para dois, com drinks (dividimos um prato principal). preço muito bom pelo que entrega.

The trees caught my attention from the moment I arrived. Big, imposing, strong. They grow in the middle of the streets, between intersections, defining the shadows, setting the tone. They stand side by side or appear on their own, in species and widths that, by their very nature, tell you they’ve been here much longer than we have.

The first time I went to the park, I hugged one simply because, in that moment, I felt like it.

Living in the desert for too long does that to you, right?

And I’m not talking only geographically — although that’s also a fact.

Sometimes the soul goes through dry seasons too. Arid, scarce in resources, searching for some way to feed itself. A kind of hunger hits that nothing seems to satisfy.

You take your time. You fight, climb, fall, try another way, arrive somewhere you don’t know, jump onto another unfamiliar stretch of sand. Exhausted.

Until, tired enough, you close your eyes and let yourself roll down from the top of the dune.

And then the palette changes.

The blur gives way to clarity. The sandy pastels disappear and green and blue come in. This time, the oasis comes to you.

Of all the ways to find color in life, I start by talking about trees, pass through the sand, and somehow find myself looking at the sky in the last sentence.

This path, somehow, takes me back to the beginning. To the basic elements.

Maybe it’s through the sum of all these comings and goings, these endless journeys, that I’ll eventually arrive somewhere else.

I keep walking.

fez sol, fez chuva. teve entradinha de lula comprada no mercado local e a estrela da noite foi a lentilha beluga. teve vinho, teve música. teve vizinho cumprimentando e teve cansaço de terminar de cozinhar quase 3 horas depois.

a receita a gente inventa. mistura de feeling com técnica. mistura de receita da mãe com novas versões francesas e pesquisas na ai. o bisque de camarão, um caso à parte. tão trabalhoso quanto saboroso.

nessa história, nem sei contar quantos ingredientes fizeram parte desse prato - e eu não estou falando só da lista que a gente compra no mercado.

the sun came out, then came the rain. there was squid from the local market to start, and the star of the night was beluga lentils. there was wine, there was music. there were neighbors saying hello, and there was the exhaustion of finally finishing cooking almost three hours later.

we make up the recipe as we go. a mix of feeling and technique. a mix of my mother’s recipes, new french versions, and ai research. the shrimp bisque was a whole story of its own. as much work as it was delicious.

somewhere in this story, i lost count of how many ingredients went into this dish - and i’m not just talking about the ones you buy at the market.

@podereilcasale é orgânico de verdade: do vinho aos queijos, da pasta ao azeite. tudo produzido ali. optei pelo menu degustação de vinhos, harmonizados a cada etapa do menu - vale a pena para explorar a produção local. foi também onde tomei meu primeiro pét-nat italiano: temperatura certa, fermentação equilibrada, fácil de beber e difícil de esquecer.

sofisticação simples. cozinha moderna com raiz artesanal.

o serviço foi atencioso, mas por vezes apressado.

média de €130 para dois. vale a visita.

@podereilcasale is organic for real: from the wine to the cheese and pasta, everything produced on-site. i went for the wine pairing menu, matched to each course - worth it to explore their own production. it’s also where i had my first italian pét-nat: perfect temperature, balanced, effortless to drink.

simple sophistication. modern cooking with real artisanal roots.

service was attentive but occasionally rushed.

🇧🇷uma capela ao lado da porta de entrada. um quarto com jardim próprio, cozy e íntimo, piscina e jacuzzi aquecida com vista para as montanhas da toscana, e um jantar de frios que montamos sozinhos numa mesa para dois sob o entardecer.

às vezes o luxo não é o restaurante. é escolher o silêncio.
