This reel shows some of the behind-the-scenes process behind After the Fire. It follows the sculpture from charcoal to 3D print, from mold to kiln-fired glass, from photograph back to sculpture and finally to its installation in the gallery. 7/7 This adventure has come to its end. I loved every minute of it despite it being the hardest thing I’ve ever done. 3 years of making, researching, writing, talking and critiquing art. It’s my last semester at parsons and this next Friday July 17th is my last open studios. I’m in my feelings about it. I have a gorgeous studio in the middle of Manhattan with a skylight! Take me back! What a beautiful way to celebrate my 50 years on this planet. Thank you everyone for the beautiful birthday wishes. We almost went to Paris but thankfully we didn’t have the time. So instead I had a dream weekend upstate with my gorgeous school buds. On my birthday I swam in a waterfall with my buds, saw an owl, a double rainbow and fireflies! Introducing Tania Quintanilla (@_tqstudio_) Parsons MFA Photo 2026

Tania Quintanilla is a Mexican-born interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores transformation, perception, and the representation of women’s bodies through sculpture, photography, and collage. Drawing from her twenty-five-year career as a commercial beauty photographer, she investigates how images shape our understanding of beauty, aging, and identity. At the core of her practice is an iterative process in which material transformation becomes both method and metaphor, connecting feminist histories to contemporary technologies and image-making. Her recent work centers on menopause as a largely unseen transformation, using material change to explore what it means to inhabit a body that is constantly evolving. Quintanilla earned a B.A. in Biology from St. Mary’s University before receiving a B.A. in Photography from Brooks Institute. She is currently completing her M.F.A. in Photography at Parsons School of Design. She lives and works in New York City. taken in Parsons School of Design by @____taniaq____

6 out of 7 semesters done. I’m already sad this wild season is almost over. This semester was so full! Started with blizzards and deep quiet. And then a surprise I moved. Sold the miami house, moved into my west village dream. I also somehow mustered the strength to learn to work with molten glass. Pulled 12 hour days making glass rocks.
