“NUNA MASKAY” / “SPIRITUAL QUEST”

This mural seeks to capture the deep bond between cacao and our Quechua ancestors. By exploring its origin and domestication, we immerse ourselves in the Amazon and the Quechua worldview, where cacao is much more than just a plant; it is a symbol of life, balance, and spirituality. Known as the “golden seed” or “Quri Muyu,” cacao is not only a food but also an ancestral medicine that connects the community with the earth, living beings, and the cosmos. The “chakra,” the space where it grows, is seen as a sacred home that nourishes both the body and the spirit, being essential for the survival and continuity of this culture. Through this mural, we honor that symbiotic relationship between cacao, nature, humanity, and the spirit, reminding us of the importance of connecting with our roots.

In a time when Yemen longs for peace and unity, this mural tells a story of hope, resilience, and shared heritage. At its heart, hands joined in unity and holding a coffee tree branch symbolize the strength of the Yemeni people, transcending differences to embrace a brighter future.

A Yemeni woman on one side, in traditional attire, reflects the enduring role of women in preserving Yemen’s identity. On the other side, the Socotra tree symbolizes resilience and survival.

Together, these elements weave a narrative of Yemen’s unity and cultural richness. This mural is not just art—it is a vision of harmony and a call to heal a nation, reminding all who see it of the shared roots that bind the Yemeni people.
