After driving around the park for 3 hours watching snow stick to the pine trees, even though it’s nearly July, we rolled into this spot and I knew exactly the shot I wanted to get. After scrambling down through the very slippery granite slabs and pine roots I immediately saw what seemed like an infinite amount of West-Slope Cutthroat eating emerging caddis and golden stones in the deepest pool.

Almost every cast delivered a stunning cutthroat that disappeared back into the deep, blue, cold water effortlessly. These fish never cease to amaze me and the places they bring me will always keep me chasing them. Whether it’s 20 miles in the backcountry or a highway-side pool like this one, there’s always a fish that makes me stunned.

This will definitely go down as my wettest and coldest day I’ve ever had on the water. The wind was a steady 10 miles an hour which seemed to occasionally turn the rain into sleet for small periods of time. My @patagonia_flyfish puffer was very quickly soaked all the way to my under-layers which I will say definitely did not help me stay warm.

As I walked back to shore I couldn’t feel my feet underneath me and my @sonyalpha camera was covered in water. I hope the next time I’m here I don’t need to wear three layers just to still get cold. Till next time Yellowstone. by @__oboy_____

goodbye winter it’s time for backpacking season

this season was the dopest year i’ve had. i started late (not even skiing till new years because of a knee injury) but my very first day back was the day after the mountain opened after 10 feet of snow and that definitely set the tone for the whole season. this was my last year on team as i will be moving onto being an independent athlete next year and this was a great send off season. thank you to my coaches @j__bauer and @lydia.nelsen for being g all year and pushing me to throw some wild stuff. also shout out mammoth teams for getting me to love this sport for the past 7 years❤️
