piloto pardo is excited to announce its participation in the inaugural edition of Paraíso Art Fair, taking place at Ambika P3 in London, just minutes from Regent’s Park and Frieze.

Taking place 15–18 October, Paraíso brings together galleries from Latin America alongside international projects committed to showcasing artistic practices from the region.

We are proud to take part as a Latin American-run gallery based in London, presenting the work of four Latin American artists living and working across the globe: Juan Martínez Macari, Alejandra Prieto, Cosima zu Knyphausen, and Martina Quesada.

Juan Martínez Macari lives and works in Idahue, Chile. His painting practice is rooted in close observation and the tradition of still life, turning his attention to flowers, domestic objects, tools, and other elements drawn from his immediate surroundings. His works embrace the intimacy of the everyday and the slow act of looking.

Alejandra Prieto lives and works in Santiago, Chile. Working primarily through sculpture and installation, her practice examines the relationships between materiality, labour, extraction, and global capitalism. Often transforming materials such as coal into familiar objects, Prieto draws attention to the systems of production, value, and consumption embedded within everyday life.

Cosima zu Knyphausen is a Chilean artist based in Berlin. Moving between painting, drawing, and writing, her work revisits art-historical and literary references through a contemporary and deeply personal lens, exploring questions of desire, intimacy, identity, and queer experience. (Gallery Thomas Schulte)

Martina Quesada is an Argentine artist based between Buenos Aires and Paris. Working across sculpture, installation, and video, her practice uses geometric systems, sacred symbolism, and references to nature to investigate perception, memory, and the shifting boundaries between the visible and invisible. (Bernier Eliades)

We look forward to welcoming you at Paraíso, Ambika 3, London, 15–18 October, parallel to our regular programming in the gallery in Farringdon.

This is the final week to see ‘Dust’ by Alejandra Prieto, one of Chile’s most renowned artists, whose practice spans sculpture, painting, video, and interdisciplinary work.

Visits this week are by appointment only.

A few moments from the opening of ‘Dust’. Thank you to everyone who joined us that evening and who has visited the exhibition since!

Prieto’s work explores materials extracted through mining, including coal, lithium, and pyrite, and their geopolitical, psychological, and social dimensions.

‘Dust’ is Prieto’s first solo exhibition in London, following Denver Art Museum’s acquisition, through piloto pardo, of her work Estratos (Carbón), 2026.

We’ll also be presenting works by Alejandra at @paraiso_fair, taking place 15–18 October at Ambika 3.

DM us for passes!

180• installation views of “Dust” by Alejandra Prieto, currently on view at the gallery.

“Prieto considers minerals as living matter, connecting bodies, economies and systems of production through their
extraction, circulation and use. In Dust, these concerns converge around the human head: a sculptural head made from lithium brings together the mineral’s geological and psychological associations, while the mineral masks made from carbon and pyrite, cast around the face, evoke protective surfaces whose endurance echoes that of rock itself.” - extract from press release.

For more information check our website!

Open until October 7th.

Lithium Head, 2026
Potassium alum, lithium

Alejandra Prieto’s solo exhibition “Dust” opened yesterday at piloto pardo. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the vernissage.

“Dust” is now open Thursday–Saturday, 3–6 pm, and by appointment.

Lithium Head is a material synthesis of Prieto’s ongoing investigation into lithium: a mineral extracted from specific regions of the earth that has become one of the most sought-after commodities of our time, essential to the batteries that power contemporary technologies and electric vehicles. Its extraction and distribution are deeply political and, at the same time, lithium has long been used in the treatment of bipolar disorder, where it acts upon and regulates processes in the brain.
