Jessie and Melinda built Reservoir from real life. From learning what touched their home and family most, to rethinking what clean should look and feel like. Every choice is intentional, made to support the way we live, care, and show up at home. by @__reservoir__

Motherhood changes how you look at the world around you, from the deep knowing that what surrounds our children shapes who they become. We believe homes should be places of nourishment, for little hands, growing minds, and the earth that holds us all. Every choice we make is guided by care for our children, for the spaces they grow up in, and for a future that feels gentler, healthier, and more whole. This is why we create slowly, why we choose better materials, and why we believe a better home can lead to a better earth.

This is our why. by @__reservoir__

To make ritual of the ordinary. To find something sacred in the tending.

This Sunday, we’re bringing the world of Reservoir to Atascadero. 🫧

We’ll be gathering outside Central Coast Refillery, sharing our story, connecting with our community, and celebrating a more thoughtful way of caring for the things we love.

There’s something special about meeting people in places rooted in the same values that brought Reservoir to life. Community, conscious consumption, and the belief that even our most ordinary routines can become something meaningful.

Come say hello, get to know Reservoir, and spend a slow Sunday morning with us.

The art of reciprocity. To give. To receive. To return.

There is a quiet poetry to the wash cycle.
Water in motion. Fabrics suspended. A gentle exchange between what cleanses and what is cleansed.

And when the washing is done, the water continues on. Because nothing in nature exists in isolation. Everything belongs to something else. Every cycle is part of a greater one.

It’s a relationship we think about often at Reservoir.

How do we care for the things we love while honoring the natural world that makes that care possible? by @__reservoir__

Showing our daughters what we’ve been building for them.

Taking them into the refill stores we once only dreamed Reservoir might live in. Watching them see the bottles on the shelves and experience something that began as an idea between us now existing out in the world.

There is something almost impossible to put into words about that.

We started Reservoir because we believed the things we use every day could be made differently. That caring for our homes shouldn’t have to come at the expense of the world outside of them. That better choices could become the easy, ordinary ones.

And so much of that belief has always come back to our children.

We’re building for the homes they’ll create one day. For the world they’ll inherit. For a future where refill, reuse, thoughtful ingredients, and caring for what you already have aren’t considered alternatives, but simply part of how we live.

They know this is Reservoir. They know their moms made it. And more importantly, they know we made it with them in mind.

To watch them see it leaving our hands and finding its place in the world feels like watching a promise we made to them slowly become real.

This is why we’re building it. by @__reservoir__

There is a very real tension in being a mother and a businesswoman. Building a company asks so much of you, and motherhood asks for more. There is always another email, another decision, another thing that could be done. Sometimes I think about the impossible pull of being an executive who is responsible for so much, while also being a mom who wants to be there for the seemingly small things. The school days, the garden, the volunteering, the moments you could so easily miss because there is always work waiting. And then there is the quiet question of when you are supposed to find time to be a person outside of all of it.

Today, my title was room parent, volunteering in my son’s school garden.

We talked about plants and herbs, tasted what was growing, learned about the little creatures living alongside us, and watched the girls eat Swiss chard like it was candy. And somewhere in the middle of it, I was reminded that these moments are not separate from the work. They are the reason for it.

Because if we are building a company around the belief that there is a better way to live, make, consume, and care for the world around us, then our children have to be part of that story. They need to experience it, to understand it, and eventually to carry it forward.

Otherwise, why are we doing any of it? by @__reservoir__

We believe the places we choose to partner with matter just as much as the products we create. Each of our retail partners shares a commitment to thoughtful living, intentional consumption, and caring for the communities they serve.

Today, all of our retail partners offer Reservoir through our refill program, making it easy to replenish your bottle, reduce waste, and make every wash part of a more sustainable ritual. by @__reservoir__

Scenes from our last afternoon at @thewellrefill.

And tomorrow, we get to do it all over again.

We’ll be back at The Well from 1-4, sharing Reservoir, talking all things microalgae, and sending you home with a sample of our biobased 2-in-1 laundry soap to try in your own home. The heart of Reservoir is rooted in this community, so as a special thank you, mention ‘Canyon Family’ at the register for 20% off your refill 🤍

And this time, there’s even more happening you don’t want to miss! Our neighbors @kinshipstation and @mercado_sagrado have plenty of their own magic in store, so come make an afternoon of it.

Stop by, say hello, bring your questions, discover something new, and spend a little time with all of us.

See you tomorrow. 🤍 taken in Topanga, California by @__reservoir__

How we care for anything, is how we care for everything. Ourselves included.

The autumn equinox is a time for slowing down, releasing, and turning inward. A moment of balance and transition as we move from the vitality of late summer into a season that asks us to nourish, warm, ground and soothe.

As full-time mothers and business owners, we know those moments can be few and far between. So this is an invitation to ourselves as much as it is to you, a reminder to tend to ourselves, too.

These are the plants we’re reaching for as the season changes, each traditionally used to nourish, ground, soothe and support the body through times of transition. A blend for meeting the season where it is, and ourselves where we are.

Tulsi · Traditionally used as an adaptogenic herb to support the body through everyday stress, while feeling both clarifying and calming.

Nettle · A deeply nourishing tonic, rich in minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium.

Rose Hips · Naturally rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, traditionally enjoyed through the colder months for nutritional and immune support.

Oatstraw · A gentle nervous-system tonic traditionally used when feeling depleted, overstimulated or tense.

Chamomile · Traditionally used to settle the nervous system and support relaxation, restful sleep and gentle digestion.

Ginger · Traditionally used to encourage circulation, ease nausea and bring warmth throughout the body.

Cardamom · Aromatic and gently warming, traditionally used for digestion with an uplifting, comforting quality.

Rose Petals · Traditionally associated with soothing, cooling and emotional comfort, with an aroma that brings a calming quality to the blend.

May the shift be a reminder that tending to ourselves belongs among the things we care for, too. by @__reservoir__

A Saturday in Topanga, with some very good neighbors.

Meet us at @thewellrefill this Saturday from 1–4pm. We’ll be there sharing Reservoir, handing out samples of our microalgae powered 2-in-1 laundry liquid, and spending the afternoon with the community where so much of our story began.

And just next door, our friends at @mercado_sagrado will be welcoming their three-month residency at @kinshipstation with a gathering of artists, makers, and friends from 12–6pm.

Come make an afternoon of it. Stop by, say hello, take a little Reservoir home with you, and wander next door to see what our neighbors have been dreaming up.
