What are you looking to achieve in this 4th quarter?

Me… I’m focusing on daily movement. A body at rest stays at rest, so the goal is to keep moving. by @__stukes__

Life lately…

Took a much needed break from work to rest and reset. Shortly after getting back into my normal routine, meal prep, gym, walking… I began experiencing extreme intermittent abdominal pain and bloat. I’m talking sharp pains every 1-2 minutes, hours at a time. I ended July a little over 181 lbs, which increased to a number I didn’t care to post in real time. It hurt to sleep laying down, sit up right in a chair, and forget walking up stairs. My body was retaining water and I was gassy as all hell. After three days of experiencing such discomfort, I couldn’t take it anymore. I ended up spending the morning/afternoon in the hospital. I took every test you could think of and they all came back normal. I’m literally telling all the nurses I’m in pain and they see nothing wrong. A blessing but I promised those nurses I’m wasn’t up in there playing around. At this point, send me home so I can suffer in my own bed. I left feeling very uncomfortable and had no desire to eat because I feared the pain would come back. Determined to resolve whatever was going on with my body, I put myself on a liquid “diet”. Talk about determined. My discipline kicked in and I’ve been on liquids for 6 days. But honestly, shout out to my boss for telling me to drink a glass of Metamucil. Of all the things right in my cabinet to take, that was the last thing on my mind as my thoughts were all over the place. That Metamucil saved my life physically and mentally.

This morning I decided to step on the scale. Although the number is a win, I’m not super focused on that. I’m just glad I feel and look like myself again. Thank God for the people in my life that say “Don’t worry, I got you!”, that genuinely checked on me and followed up to see what my progress was, that suggested so many holistic approaches and shared their own stories so I didn’t have to feel like I was alone. Shout out to y’all for real. Y’all know who y’all are 🫶🏾.

12 days of discomfort to be exact. 12 of pushing through and most had no idea. 12 days of eliminating foods from my diet that I believed I couldn’t go a day without. 12 days of pain was the sacrifice for the reset I prayed for. taken in Queens, New York by @__stukes__

Shout out to the person I saw a couple of years ago use this band to assist with their push ups instead of doing them on the knees 🙌🏾👌🏾🤌🏾. I tore my rotator cuff sometime back in maybe 2010 and it’s NEVER been the same, but I’ll never stop moving, stretching, and pushing. taken in Queens, New York by @__stukes__

This post isn’t about me. It’s about the person that makes me feel the most comfortable in my skin, that loves my obnoxious laugh, that calms my nervous system, that teaches me something new everyday, that motivates and encourages me to be 1% better each day. My face/smile says all you need to know.

Happy Birthday my love! 💚 by @__stukes__

I don’t like to really share what I’m going through and right now it feels like I’m in the worst of it, however, one thing I am is hopeful. And if my story resonates with just one person, then it was worth putting out there.

This isn’t about having to start over. I’ve done that plenty of times, so I know it’s possible. Last October I was 169 lbs and today I weigh in at 181 lbs. This is about being faced with the unknown and not really knowing how to navigate it. Sometimes, everyone’s opinions can be overwhelming. Sometimes you just need a hug or a spa day to take your mind off of it. Sometimes you want to just be alone. Sometimes you’re like, “yea, everything is gonna be fine”. And sometimes you have the worst attitude. I am all of these.

To make this short and sweet… somewhere around mid April I started not feeling like myself. After experiencing irregular menstrual cycles, constant cramps, breast tenderness, constant pain on the left side of my lower abdomen and just pushing through like this shit was normal, I finally decided to pay my doctor a visit. I left that day informed that I have fibroids, breast cyst, and was recommended to go on hormone therapy for 90 days. And if I chose not to take the medication a hysterectomy is in my near future.

Not something I was prepared to deal with but here we are 🙄.

So I began the 90 day hormone treatment and ended up with a 16 day menstrual cycle the following month. Needless to say I stopped taking that shit and as a result haven’t seen a period all July 🤦🏾‍♀️ (and no I’m not pregnant) although I look that way after every meal or drink 😞

I literally feel like I’m gonna pop 🎈 after every meal. My eczema is flaring, I’m fighting for my life to have a good nights sleep, and my mood is on 1000%. Sooooo, I will be paying both my primary doctor and GYN a visit asap.

With all that being said; you never know what people are going through. People’s moods have nothing to do with you. Sometimes just being around people you love and make you feel safe is just what you need in the moment. Sometimes people just need to get what they’re going through off their chest (no resolution needed) just a silent hug 🫂 taken in Queens, New York by @__stukes__
