Presenting Johan Carøe(@johancaroe & Gabo Barranco (@gabobarranco) new full-length ‘Tumblr Shelter’ out today on Vasen.

On Tumblr Shelter Carøe and Barranco dream up otherworldly atmospheres which create sounds that resemble the world’s of 1’s and 0’s, of role-playing games and other worldbuilding efforts.

Johan Carøe and Gabo Barranco met almost ten years ago, through the Red Bull Music Academy, creating a track together and creating many more ever since, though never in the same room. Johan Carøe is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and Gabo Barranco in Mexico City, Mexico. We see this split on the surface of the record even, in the languages used, perused. It shifts quietly between Danish, Spanish and English and between opulent titles and what seems more like makeshift digital notes. It’s more like a diary than anything else. A diary flung back and forth between physical continents and through digital time, exploring the world between them. A shared love of 90’s sadcore melancholic music helped shape Tumblr Shelter and all its tranquil ambiences.

The record is a light-giving body of work - ephemeral, stuttering yet functional. It’s dreamy and achy, a heartrendering head trip. With all its REM-like qualities it never
misses the intensity of the outputs of likeminded artists like William Basinski and Huerco S.
It’s the sort of music you want to pass around to friends and kin alike.

[SWINE REVIEW] • @w_e_d_d_i_n_g_cph might have just figured out the perfect formula for festival music.

Drums and pure rhythm are the soul of their new EP called Jobseeker. Don’t you believe me? Check out their videos from the @roskildefestival show. The 3-man band (Kristian Alexander Pedersen, Kristoffer Bech, Hasse Bruun Guiseppi) can create the atmosphere of a huge rave. After their debut (Sunshower) the trio moved from foggy, hypnotic, reverb-like, nonchalant 80’s vibe to a more straightforward sound. Jobseeker is brighter and faster from the last project. But on the other hand, their music still resembles the heavy emotional atmosphere of the #Copenhagen indie scene.

“Jobseeeker is the second full-fledged iteration from Wedding after 2024’s Sunshower EP. It exists on the same level of real as Sunshower but presenting new ideas and exploring new and more techy venues than ever before.

Straight out of the gate the record unfolds intense drum and bass, dripping water and siphoned in samples that looms large throughout. Melancholic and lamenting piano stabs fills the ghostly void and invites the listener to let go in ecstatic release.

An EP that’s invigorating, incendiary, careless and straight to the point.”

The original cover for ‘Warning’. A story as much as my experimental ep of cut up Hollywood film symphonies, soulful pop vocals and syncopated percussion patterns. Like the intro warning screen before the feature presentation, this ep was just the beginning. Love and gratitude to everyone involved.
