Denmark at Jazzahead 2026 ❤️

When Jazzahead kicks off this Thursday, 23 April, the Danish presence will be among the most prominent at the fair. Not only are a total of 74 representatives from the Danish jazz scene attending – there are also seven fully or partly Danish jazz ensembles performing across the fair’s various showcases.

Friday is the busiest day both at the stand and on the fair’s stages: The evening begins with Nana Rashid performing on the fair’s main official showcase stage, followed by Sinne Eeg & Jakob Christoffersen, Kathrine Windfeld, and Nausia, who can be experienced at the traditional Danish Clubnight. The Aalborg-based bassist Kenneth Dahl Knudsen will also perform that evening with his HEXORA project at Berthold Records’ clubnight.

In addition to the many fair activities, Denmark is also represented at the German Jazz Expo, where drummer Michala Østergaard Nielsen performs as part of Sara Decker – Expand. At the major Grand Opening event on Wednesday evening, singer Josefine Cronholm will appear as guest soloist with the big band The Bigger the Knower. At Saturday’s major award ceremony, Deutscher Jazzpreis, no fewer than two Danish releases are nominated: Omrum – Bringer of Light and Maria Faust – Sacrum Facere.

The Danish stand offers daily informal networking activities, the release of an English-language inspiration catalogue on gender balance in the music industry, as well as a meet & greet with the team behind Jazzcamp for Piger. In the fair’s official conference programme, JazzDanmark’s director Eva Frost will also take part in a panel on the current state of gender balance in the Danish jazz scene.

See the full programme for the Danish participation above or at jazzdanmark.dk, and if you, too, are at jazzahead, see you at the danish stand 6E53 ❤️

[SWINE REVIEW] • @w_e_d_d_i_n_g_cph might have just figured out the perfect formula for festival music.

Drums and pure rhythm are the soul of their new EP called Jobseeker. Don’t you believe me? Check out their videos from the @roskildefestival show. The 3-man band (Kristian Alexander Pedersen, Kristoffer Bech, Hasse Bruun Guiseppi) can create the atmosphere of a huge rave. After their debut (Sunshower) the trio moved from foggy, hypnotic, reverb-like, nonchalant 80’s vibe to a more straightforward sound. Jobseeker is brighter and faster from the last project. But on the other hand, their music still resembles the heavy emotional atmosphere of the #Copenhagen indie scene.

Night Journeys presents
Wedding + Lust for Youth + DJ Algorythm
Hotel Cecil, 16.01.26

Wedding returns after their explosive Roskilde 2025 show • bringing dark euphoria, raw energy, and their fusion of post-club and 90s electronica.

Lust for Youth joins with their moody, danceable synth sound.

DJ Algorythm (she/her) sets the tone with deep, hypnotic rhythms.

16.01.26 — Don’t miss it.

The original cover for ‘Warning’. A story as much as my experimental ep of cut up Hollywood film symphonies, soulful pop vocals and syncopated percussion patterns. Like the intro warning screen before the feature presentation, this ep was just the beginning. Love and gratitude to everyone involved.

Nausia (DK) joins Viva Sounds!

Nausia has captivated and impressed audiences and critics alike, including the legendary rock journalist David Fricke, with their doom-jazz sound that shifts between spiritual, hypnotic trance and wild, euphoric outbursts. The band, consisting of two saxophones, guitar, bass, and drums, defies genre boundaries. Their sound alternates between hypnotic repetition and intense, euphoric energy, drawing inspiration from alternative rock, spiritual jazz, and minimalism.
