Tra le prime nazionali più attese di questa edizione, il 10 e 11 ottobre MILANoLTRE presenta Magec / The Desert, la nuova creazione del coreografo Radouan Mriziga con la compagnia belga A7LA5.

Attraverso il dialogo tra corpo, conoscenza e paesaggio, Radouan Mriziga guarda al deserto non come a uno spazio vuoto, ma come a un luogo ricco di memoria, saperi e possibilità. Dal Sahara alle steppe dell’Asia centrale, la performance esplora il rapporto tra essere umano e natura, invitando a riscoprire una relazione fondata sull’ascolto e sulla reciprocità.

Ispirata alle pratiche artistiche, all’artigianato e alle tradizioni delle culture desertiche, la coreografia intreccia movimento, ritmo, testo e suono in una composizione corale e stratificata. Un viaggio sensoriale che invita a rallentare, osservare e ritrovare l’essenziale.

Magec / the Desert is a dance piece that traces vast, arid landscapes from the Sahara to the Thar and the steppes of Central Asia, reading the desert not as a void but as a space that calls for humility instead of control.

Drawing on the rhythms, crafts and traditions of desert cultures, the choreography moves through sound, text and movement, inviting the audience to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Ce soir et demain il présente également son solo 𝘈𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘴 / 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯, premier volet de sa trilogie. Le troisième volet, 𝘈𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘴 / 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘢 est en cours de création et sera présenté au Festival en 2027. Le chorégraphe vous invite à découvrir son processus créatif demain à 16:30, entrée libre.

Inspirée des récits mythologiques de la culture amazighe, la performance solo de Radouan Mriziga 𝘈𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘴 / 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 évoque les liens ténus entre ce peuple d’Afrique du Nord et son environnement naturel. Ici la montagne de l’Atlas. Une interaction vitale qui resurgit dans une expérimentation physique autant que spirituelle, codifiée autant qu’universelle.

In his latest solo performance, choreographer Radouan Mriziga takes us to the Atlas Mountains. In a ritual performance, he sheds light on the different layers of meaning surrounding the famous mountain: a symbolic, romantic place in our imagination; a difficult-to-access place and refuge in times of war; a door to heaven and connection to the Sacred.

Mriziga’s embodiment of a variety of polymorphic figures becomes a gateway: these half-human, half-animal creatures form mysterious, occult forces that lead us to the distant peaks of the Atlas. At the same time, they also reveal Mriziga’s investigation into the knowledge and practices of the Amazigh culture, in which his own roots lie. Various traditions, clothing, music, dances, and instruments are discussed while Mriziga follows the abstract stage lines that are now familiar from his practice and that refer to the geometry of Muslim architecture.

In Magec / The Desert verkent Radouan Mriziga de woestijn als een plek van wijsheid en reflectie.

Ver weg van menselijke controle tonen deze uitgestrekte landschappen - van de Sahara tot Centraal-Azië - hoe klein de mens is tegenover de natuur.

De voorstelling verweeft dans, muziek, tekst en ambacht tot een gelaagd geheel, geworteld in kennis van woestijnculturen.
