𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 is a personal meditation on family, loss, and longing. It reflects on the emotional toll of time passing with the people we love… finding ourselves separated across the globe, leaving behind the fragments of a once-familiar home.

[end of the year dump: poetry ‘n’ self portrait]

I have had such an exciting 2022, that it fills me with me joy that the year is ending on an even better note.

I was earlier featured in the Woman issue of @iselemagazine after which I got longlisted for their Poetry Prize (I didn’t win actually) but being nominated alone meant everything to me.

Two days ago, I received my copy of the Best of Isele Anthology where five of my poems are featured in the Poetry Category alongside fellow talented poets and writers.

I am very happy to be seen and my works appreciated.

A big thank you to everyone who has been a support system and friend to me this year. I know the new year will be a fulfilling one.

my first photo dump here👽.

giving face, poetry, body and thick thighs.

I saw a post on twitter asking what this chapter of my life will be titled and I quoted “a time of short highs and long lows”, but tbh that’s me being short sighted because there’s been soo much beauty, soo much to be grateful for and joyful about just as there’s been a lot to be sad about.

Ijeoma Umebinyuo wrote “I dance myself out of pain”, and I remember that on the worst of days, joy walks to me through rhythms, carrying me out of bed, thumping through my heart, even finding my legs and right then the sun is beautiful and faces are new and God is here, and I am here, present- in a moment. I am living, existing and there’s so much beauty waiting to reach me, a lot of love waiting to hold me and there’s a life that is mine, shining as I live it.

Remember your life is yours and it is beautiful. Stay present and thankful for the small joys🫶🏾

We shall meet when I remember to post again🤞🏾

when i think of my dad, i think of dreams. my father dreamt a lot and he liked the oceans and stars, and he loved quiet. he was very sentimental and emotional, he was my hero. when i was younger, he was my closest representation to God but I’m older now and i know. he was human in all that he was.

Happy Father’s Day.

These have been in my drafts and they deserve to breathe, they deserve to be seen.
