Cats deserve this kind of wholesome trip too.

Drove 3hrs outside Sydney to get to Bulliac for my cat to see his first cow and for @in2thewild.aus tiny house Mowgli.

Ostrich. Meet Pam, used to have a lover but unfortunately he is now on the other side. Died of natural causes. Pam is now single. Pam’s kind is the biggest flightless bird and the fastest animal on two legs.

Baboons. Red butt. The only hairless part of their bodies. Also a sign that they are ready to mate. Their red bottoms are thick and cushiony, good for prolonged sitting. Largest monkey. No, gorillas are not monkeys!

Gemsbok. One of the large antelope species. Exceptionally adapted to desert regions of Africa. Unlike the kudus, gemsbok horns are long and straight. They can go many days without drinking water.

Zebra. Every stripe pattern is unique like fingerprints. The stripes help deter predators and repel biting flies and insects.
Zebra foals are born with very long legs making them appear almost adult size. Another defence mechanism.

Male lion. Big furry kitty cats. My cat Ollie’s long distant cousin. One of the Big Five. Like my Ollie, lions could sleep up to 20hours a day and so lionesses do a lot of the work. They don’t live in jungles, they live in savannahs and open grasslands. Not too “King of the Jungle” really.

Giraffes. Same as zebras, giraffes have individual distinct coat patterns. Tallest land mammal. Have you seen giraffes run?? My god, so majestic, so elegant. They look like slomo running but already covering so much distance. A group of moving giraffes are called journey.

African buffalo. One of the Big Five and one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Known for their mad temper and killing approximately 200 people each year. They have the best headpiece in the wild.

Springbok. South Africa’s rugby team. Not the animals but the name of their team. Native in South Africa and also their national animal. Known for their unique high aerial leaps called pronking.

When you come back from a mad city tour and the Table Mountain greeted you with this and with great music to pair it with 😍

Locals call this the “tablecloth” where a sea of white clouds cover the flat top surface of the Table Mountain and spilling over the edges.

Spilling clouds?! What!! Ahhhh just mesmerising!!

Things I did in Arusha:
- Hiking at Mt Meru to find Napuru waterfalls. Make sure you explore the off beaten track, you’ll see more 😉
- Canoeing, birding and walk around Lake Duluti (Arusha beach 🤭)
- Visit a Maasai tribe. Had a one-on-one talk with the village chief. Told him about the Maasai boys in Zanzibar. 🤔
- Mangalia waterfall
- The best sunset in Tanzania at Kilimamoto crater. Remnants of an extinct volcano. Not a lot of people know about this one. But yeah, hands down the best sunset 🌅
