I started my Substack last year as a means of daily creative practice. A way to make myself uncomfortable on a daily basis with short pieces like diary entries made public. I often equate my writing to a force sometimes greater than myself that feels like if I don’t scream, I just might combust.

Lately it feels like the whole world is screaming in unison. Poised & Positioned is part of that collective scream.

Morning Entries is a daily series of what I’m processing, moving through or inspired by because I believe the best parts of my Life Well Lived are derived from the internal work - the soul food of substance.

August is a Sunday…

and was perhaps the Sunday of my life. Filled with the type of slow energy only a Sunday can bring” coupled with that slight anxious hum of preparation for those new-and-what’s-to-comes.

I took this August to lean into the Sunday feels and what came of it was a whole lot of feels poured out in the form of the written word.

Being a voracious reader has and continues to serve me well. Books have allowed me a painted landscape of perspectives and musings from minds far more brilliant than my own. Tony’s thought on taking risks for the sake of experience and discoveries in the form of prophetic quotes reminding the human to breathe and know that the contrast of life is a necessary trade off in experiencing all of life and what it means to be a soul living in a body.

As I begrudgingly suffered through a subpar pizza from my daughters local pizzeria of choice, it became crystal clear to us both at nearly the exact moment 1) It was an off night and 2) we indeed will encounter bad meals but they make the good meals even more spectacular. The honorable mention here is that the actual 48hr fermentation of the dough was incredible - bad night or not.

Stay curious and relish in every single inch of what it means to be human. Life is not merely meant to be lived but to be felt through all the senses. taken in Lisbon, Portugal by @_ashmeyers

Another Off-Court 🎾 Life Lesson

I came across a podcast recently, where the speaker touched on how the top five players in the world all share the same treat, that trait, you ask? Joy! Joy in the game, joy in every hit, joy in every swing, joy in knowing that if you missed or if you nailed the best shot of your life, neither was better than the other. It just was filled with joy. Criticism, especially the self imposed criticism that lives inside of the monkey mind, can be the thief of joy and the thief of an entire day if we let it.

Today, my inner critic almost got away with sabotaging my day and stripping me from all joy, and then I decided to just simply not allow it.
