BULAWAN for Seda Abreeza 💫

April 16 marked the final leg of the nationwide tour of the ALH Team, culminating in a media roundtable at Seda Abreeza with Ayala Land Inc. Creative Director Paloma Urquijo Zobel de Ayala (@p.u.z ) , Seda Hotels-Mindanao General Manager Kennedy Kapulong (@kenkenobi ), and myself.

It is an honor to have been handpicked as the artist for the newly renovated property. Many thanks to TARZEER Pictures (@tarzeerpictures ) for entrusting me with this project at such a meaningful point of transition in my life—having just uprooted from Davao City and moved to Manila—yet grounding me in something deeply familiar.

On full-circle moments: I remember being at Seda Abreeza ten years ago for my thesis deliberation on my fashion capsule collection. To return now in a completely different capacity feels both surreal and deeply personal.

The inspirations for the collection were derived from my lived experiences as a Dabawenya, pulling stories from my childhood and my community. These became the quiet foundation of the works created for this collection. There are no wrong answers in memory—only honest ones—and it is from these that the paintings were born, now installed across all the guest rooms of the hotel.

Grateful for the opportunity to bring these stories to life.

I can’t help but smile looking back at these shared moments from the coffee painting workshop I facilitated last June for the Ayala Land Hospitality team, led by Creative Director Paloma Urquijo Zobel de Ayala.

Part of Connecting the Dots, an initiative by Paloma to connect with her team beyond their usual email threads, the evening was an opportunity to slow down, get creative, and get to know one another outside the usual work setting.

Between painting and shared laughs, we got to hear little stories about each other, from someone’s pet pig to another’s basketball dreams. For me, it was also a chance to get to know the people behind the Seda Abreeza project I had the opportunity to work on, this time beyond the work itself.

Hosted at @silverlensden, surrounded by art at Silverlens Gallery, we also enjoyed cocktails and food prepared for the evening.
