6 years ago to this day I launched a website that would change the trajectory of how I view Filipino creativity. I named it after my maternal grandfather whose name lives in mine in hopes of helping the world see what I started to see about the sheer talent of our community. It landed in major publications like the New York Times, WWD, and HighSnobiety. It introduced me to some of the most brilliant people that I now get to call my friends. And most importantly, it sparked something in me that would eventually lead me to understanding my life’s calling. As we gear up tonight for our 4th Mabuhay Mixer, which is looking to be our largest one yet, I reflect on what the last six years (shoot even the last six months atp) has taught me. The lesson is: if you are relentless in your pursuit of your authentic self, you will find success. For me, what I said in the last slide still remains true, my goal is to create an entire ecosystem where we can support each other and build a better future for the global Filipino.
