🎬 Exciting news from Eastern Effects! We are thrilled to announce that our very own Bruce Jones will be leading a team as part of the 2025 Short Film Challenge! We’re in great company alongside other talented rental houses.

This year’s film challenge is officially underway, with teams revealed and starting to crew up! Brought to you by Beyond the Film School, Reel Works, and Lux Lighting, each team will create a theme-based short film in NJ/NY, writing, shooting, and editing their projects in just two weeks using only their resources. As part of our support for the team’s production, they’ll be able to “Get Effected” by our rental house and studios. We’re cheering on all the teams as they embark on this creative journey!  Eastern Effects welcomes team members:

BTS from my directorial debut🥳 I want to thank @reelworks for selecting me into their cohort as 1 of only 3 directors and providing me with the resources and support needed to get me to this point.

Now, more than ever before, I’m truly grateful for another lap around the sun. Never *genuinely* celebrated my birthday till now and I’ll probably never take another one for granted again. Took me quite a while to realize that my life is worth being celebrated, but better later than never🥳

The symbol for mental health awareness is a semi colon (;) and I decided to incorporate it into my nails (swipe till end) as a way to stand in solidarity with anyone going through something— myself included. It shows that your story could have ended here; you kept going,though🤞🏾 (see what I did there? lol).

Idk who needs to hear this, but better days are are on the horizon and I pray you stick it out to the end to see how beautiful your life pans out🥳 After all, you’ve overcome 100% of your worst days. If that’s not worth celebrating, then what is?¿

Some may say this post is late, but I believe it’s right on time😌 Exactly a year ago, I graduated from the University at Albany with the highest honors. I was known for my academic achievements and great worth ethic. But who was Chidịọgọ outside of all that? Who was she beside her 3.83 gpa and distinguished accolades? Is this all she was worth?🥺 What would happen after graduation in the real world when these things won’t really matter? How would she shed her “student” identity—something that has defined her (and many others) for so long? Who was she outside of a good student ?¿😥😰

These are all the things I found myself asking. Resulted in a great deal of anxiety and sleepless nights. You see, when you’ve been tethered to an identity for so long, it’s really hard to imagine yourself separate from it😳

Spent a whole year shedding this part of me and exploring the other identities I possess that also make me, me. Lo and behold, I was surprised at what I discovered about myself and my passions🥰

Happy solar return to me🥳

If a couple years ago you told me that I’d be spending my birthday on a commercial set, I wouldn’t believe you😭 Life has an interesting way of working out lol.

Here’s to getting out of my comfort zone, trying new things, and taking up space‼️No longer will I allow the fear of the unknown to paralyze me into inaction or allow the fears of others to manifest into mine.

Moral of the story: Do it scared😱Remember, your fears also reveal to you what it is that you truly want.

My beautiful life story is unfolding right before my eyes and the best is truly yet to come 🥰🥰 by @_chidiogo_

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” -Philippians 4:13

This was the most difficult semester I have ever experienced so far. From frequent emotional breakdowns to excessive trips to the health center due to health issues, I was really going through it y’all 😫. There were many times when I just wanted to be like f-k it and not try to bounce back from my short comings. I can’t even count the number of places (and times) I’ve cried on this campus 😭. Nevertheless God saw me through and my endless nights of prayers and tears were not left unheard or in vain. I cannot emphasize enough the power of affirmations 🗣journal writing ✍🏿 and positive energy 🦋. They helped me accomplish and get through things I never imagined overcoming. I was hesitant with posting this because I didn’t want to come off as boastful, I really wanted to be an inspiration for others to know that with a good mindset and determination, you can exceed what you thought your limits were 🙏🏿
