Advance physical copies of my new album, Grisaille, have landed, and it's a thing of great beauty. With eternal thanks to @room40shoots

It's perfectly possible to buy one – child needs paintbrushes etc.

Cool somewhat NSM news: our buddy/compadre/sound brother @_chrisherbert has a new, and beautiful album out on @room40shoots called Grisaille. We contributed live material to the track “The Matador.” This record is insanely cool and you should pick it up on this Bandcamp Friday. More NSM news in the offing including a new LP. Much love from us to you! by @_chrisherbert

I’m very pleased to announce the pre-order of my new album Grisaille, released in November on Room40.

I’m really proud of it. I think it might be my best work.

David Bowie: You’re Not Alone @ Lightroom, London.

An immersive, cinematic exhibition, and surprisingly moving.

Until fairly recently I was Bowie-agnostic. I grew up in the '80s, when he arguably wasn't doing his best work, and then became an intense young man in the '90s whose favourite sport was tipping sacred cows. Bowie seemed adrift, chasing industrial music and drum & bass, increasingly out of touch and faintly ridiculous.

His earlier work didn't fare much better in my estimation. I already worshipped Neu! and The Stooges; I didn't need a sanitised, pantomime version.

I've done a lot of growing up since then. My daughter adores him, which undoubtedly helped, but I've slowly come to regard him with enormous affection.

One thing he says in the exhibition is that he wasn't an original thinker, but an aggregator. I rather like that. Having ideas is one thing; getting them into other people's heads is quite another. That, I think, was his great talent: smuggling genuinely strange and interesting art into the bloodstream of popular culture.

He remained curious right to the end. Bright, stylish as hell, and apparently incapable of standing still creatively.

I don't mind admitting it: I miss him.

The exhibition is excellent. Go if you get the chance. taken in Lightroom by @_chrisherbert
