2018 me, who was just starting this business, would have a LOT to say to 2026 me. 🥹

Nearly 8 years of building CL Designs, and now I get to share that I’ve been named a Canada Small Business 100 honouree. 🇨🇦

The Canada Small Business 100, presented by @mastercardca in partnership with @thisisglorymedia, celebrates Canadian small businesses demonstrating excellence in leadership, innovation, growth, community impact and customer experience.

And honestly, this recognition feels especially meaningful because the last few years of business have been less about doing more and so much more about simplifying, getting clearer, and going deeper on the work that actually makes an impact.

✨ The brilliant clients I get to work alongside.
✨ The audiences I get to speak to, not at.
✨ The bold and creative ideas I get to bring into the world.
✨ The relationships that have grown alongside this business.

I don't take any of it lightly!

There’s something really beautiful about celebrating small business in Canada: the people building something from an idea, figuring it out as they go, creating jobs and opportunities, contributing to their communities, and continuing to believe in what they’re building.

I’m incredibly grateful to be among these businesses being celebrated this year. And maybe most of all, grateful to 2018 me for making the difficult decision to stop trading in climbing the corporate ladder for climbing mountains around the world and for starting before she had any idea where this would lead.

Pretty is easy. Making people care is the real work.

For 15+ years, I’ve been helping organizations, brands and purpose-driven teams turn complex ideas into clear, compelling creative that moves people. I truly believe that design can change the world!

From global brands and media organizations to nonprofits, founders and teams doing deeply meaningful work, I’ve learned that great design isn’t just about how something looks. It’s about whether people actually understand it. Remember it. Trust it. And know what to do next.

Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to work with 300+ clients, taught over 5750 people, collaborate with organizations like Walmart, MLSE, CBC Music, Sportsnet, Rogers, DHL and more, earn industry recognition as a Top 10 Canada Design for my podcast, and build a business largely through referrals and relationships.

But the thing I’m proudest of? 💛 The trust.

Trust to take something complicated and make it clear.
Trust to challenge the brief when there’s a better way.
Trust to bring strategy and creativity to the table.
Trust to care about the people on the other side of the work.

What if the rich, fulfilling life you’re building starts with coming home to your body? 💛

Last night, at a gala celebrating the @foundationofimg and @letdoctalk and the people supporting the health and futures of medical professionals, I found myself thinking about how often women are taught to push through.

The exhaustion.
The pain.
The hormonal shifts.
The things that don’t feel right.

We deserve better!

We deserve to know our bodies. Advocate for ourselves. Ask the uncomfortable questions. And be taken seriously when something feels off.

Because our bodies aren’t the thing standing between us and the life we want.

They’re where we get to experience it.

And that feels connected to everything I believe about building a business, too: success means very little if you’re too depleted to enjoy the life you built.

I want the FULL thing. 🌟
The ambitious dreams.
The meaningful work.
The big adventures.
The deep relationships.
The rest.
The joy.
The LIFE.

Not a business that asks me to abandon myself to succeed.

A life and a business that feels like home. ✨
