I want to help create awareness around something I see a lot of misunderstanding with.

There is a large gap in communication between the different sectors of the sport performance industry. I also come across a lot of my athletes seeing PTs who are only preparing them for basics of life and sending them back to full high level play without ever taking the necessary steps to get there. Also don’t even get me started on the amount of shock and laser therapy I hear about, that sh** boils my blood.

My goal is to help provide information to fill the gap in the education that parents and athletes receive from other professionals when it comes to returning to play for sport. I want to help more athletes return feeling as healthy and capable as possible to continue to play the sport that they love without hesitation.

Keep showing up!

Life’s been A LOT over the past year.

Lots of ups and downs, I’m ready for the waves to calm down a little bit, but I’ve been getting into a rhythm even in the chaos and that’s been so helpful.

I’m a firm believer that after any down and up will come bigger and better and each season I just get better at riding the waves, sometimes I keep falling and others it stay up.

If you’re going through a down, stay strong and keep going. It’s gotta go up at some point!

Keep showing up!

Hey guys!

Welcome to my fitness page, where I strive to create a community of people who strive to do better by their health and wellness, who want to find a way to love their bodies again, feel empowered in the goals they strive for and hopefully do some things they didn’t even know they were capable of or hit the goals they felt were too far out of reach for them.

Let’s build something real here!

Keep it simple and keep it real crew.

Show up for yourself!

All gas, no brakes?

Parents are always asking, “How do we get our kid faster?”

But if they’re running around with V4 speed and can’t hit the brakes, why are we so focused on building them a V8? We might just be setting them up for a crash.

Athletes brake, decelerate, and change direction WAY more often in a game than they sprint at top speed in a straight line.

Speed matters, but so does the ability to control it.

Let’s stop focusing solely on building a faster engine and start building the brakes to handle it.

All gas is great. But you’ve gotta have brakes, too.

Today’s deposits + 1 hour of Gi BJJ 😤

Do I always want to hit a session, no I don’t, sometimes it’s been a long day, my eating hasn’t been well timed and I’m tired. But I show up because I know this:
 - I’m keeping my word to myself and that’s important to me
 - I feel better during and especially after- mentally my mind is clear and I’m proud of myself
 - progress is made on the days you don’t want to but you did 🗣️

I know it’s hard, but I also know it’s worth it, give 100% of the 50% you got in the tank and you’ll see the results.

Show up for yourself.

Don’t forget what you’re capable of.

It’s so easy to get caught up in looks, especially in the industry of fitness. Those things are what sells, but I know there are times I get too lost in the idea of looking the right way physically.

That’s when I have to slow down and remind myself that it’s about having a strong body that is capable of so many amazing things. It’s not about how it looks while doing it, but being able to accomplish the goals set out.

I hope this finds who needs it💕

I think it depends.

Essentially is the juice worth the squeeze?

I ask myself what am I trying to get out of the exercise, is there another exercise that can accomplish the same thing with less complexity?

If the answer is yes, then I simplify the exercise if:
- the current one is too advanced for where that person is at
- there is time limitations: a competition coming up, they don’t come that often

accomplishing the goal of the exercise is more important than the complexity of the exercise. There are many ways to achieve the same outcome, let’s just remember what the outcome we are looking for is.

Train them harder than their sport demands.

Not to make practice harder—but to prepare their body for the forces, intensity, and fatigue their sport will throw at them.

The goal is to build a body that can handle the demands of the game, withstand the wear and tear of a long season, and keep showing up full force months later.

Train beyond the sport so the sport doesn’t break them down.

Let’s revamp the process to get kids back to playing HEALTHY — not just back to playing.

Kids aren’t necessarily “injury prone.” Sometimes, they simply aren’t going through a proper return-to-play process.

Rest has its place. Sometimes the body needs time to heal.

But rest alone doesn’t rebuild everything an athlete needs to return to their sport.

A gradual return to running, jumping, cutting, strength, speed, and sport-specific demands is how we rebuild that foundation.

Think of it like rebuilding the foundation instead of just patching the cracks.

The goal shouldn’t be: “They’re cleared, let’s get them back.”

It should be: “What does this athlete need to be prepared for the demands of their sport again?”

Let’s focus less on the short-term goal of getting kids back on the field and more on the long-term goal of keeping them there.

Better process → better preparation → better long-term outcomes.

Mobility is controlled full range of motion.

Strength is required for that control.

Flexibility gives us access to a range, but we also need to find ways to use that range and be strong in it.

Having access to deeper joint ranges of motion can improve your movement capacity and ability — but only if you can actually control and utilize them.

So go drop it low — WITH CONTROL — and with some weight. 😤

Let’s not make training gender specific.

Women and men can and should train the same. Does each have different focal points, yes-
- men tend to be stiffer and less mobile so making sure they don’t lose/ maintain range of motion is key 🔑
- women have a lot of mobility without enough stability, so making sure they are strong and stable is key 🔑

Does this mean their training needs to look worlds different- hell no. Train hard, lift heavy, and fill in the gaps that can lead to things like injury and poor performance.

Let’s stop muddying the waters. It takes a lot to looks like a man- mostly drugs, but also a lot of training on top of the drugs for a women to look like a man from training. Full stop.

Now go get training 💪🏻

Move yo body 🕺

Why active recovery over modalities?

Because active recovery better prepares the body to handle the next bout of training or competition.

How?
- promotes/ increases blood flow throughout the whole body
- this in turn sends good nutrients to “sore” aka damaged tissue from training that helps it heal and repair
- can provide an analgesic affect- aka the body creates its own feel good/ pain reliever sensation to ease the soreness

Can modalities also do things like increase blood flow and what not, yes, but moving your muscles creates the action of pumping blood in and out which brings good in and takes away the inflammation and other stuff.

Active recovery is also a chance to work on things like mobility and any current areas of improvement needed for an athlete- like ankle or hip mobility and stability, etc.

So get that body moving!
