Actually… good would be an understatement ☺️

Today I had the incredible opportunity to be one of three panelists at the Nashville Chapter of Amazon’s Black Employee Network event… ‘Hair Tales Live: A Conversation on Black Hair’

So grateful for the opportunity to educate, share stories, and celebrate the beauty, history, and diversity of the Black hair experience. Sending a huge thank you to Marissa, Candace, and Taramis @amazon This was truly a powerful conversation and a beautiful reminder of our culture’s relevance, strength and resilience. What an amazing way to close out Black History Month!

Being named a Best of Tennessee 2025 Honorable Mention still doesn’t feel real! To be a transplant who took a leap of faith just 4 years ago and now be recognized among the best in business in this incredible state… it’s humbling, affirming, and fills my heart with deep gratitude. 🥹🖤

Thank you to every single person who voted, supported, shared, and believed in what we’re building here. But most of all, thank you to every woman who’s trusted me with her hair, her time, and her confidence. You’ve allowed me to live out my purpose here in Nashville: helping women embrace all that their natural hair can do whether curly, straight, or beautifully enhanced.

Here’s to growth, my amazing community, and the magic that happens when you stay true to His vision. 💫

June 2024 ➡️ June 2026. TWO YEARS of progress. 👏🏽

Look at the LENGTH. The DENSITY. THE DIFFERENCE. 😮‍💨

This is what happens when healthy hair care and length retention become part of the plan, not just something you hope happens along the way.

Because growing hair is one thing. KEEPING what you grow? That’s where the work comes in. And the results speak for themselves. 🤎

Now, you can either book the appointment or grab your copy of Grow It. Keep It. and start getting intentional about your own hair journey.

Either way, retention is happening over here. 👀

Don’t be the one watching everybody else’s progress wondering when it’s gonna be your turn! 😂

Apparently, I didn’t actually want a bob in June.

I wanted a nap.
And a good meal 😂

But here’s what I did want—and what I’ve been committed to for the last 2+ years:
A system that works.

I’ve been consistent with my hair-care routine throughout this entire length-retention journey. Same basic principles. Same intentionality. Giving my hair what it needs, when it needs it.
And yes… I still cut several inches off in June✂️

Because consistency doesn’t mean you can never switch things up.
You can cut your hair.
You can change your style.
You can wear extensions.
You can decide one day that you’re apparently a bob girl 😂

The point is that when the system underneath it all stays consistent, your hair can continue to thrive.

Fast forward to October 7th: extensions down, shampooed, conditioned, trimmed, soft pressed… and the difference in both length AND density is 👀.

The growth was effortless.
The length retention? Not so much.

Because hair growth happens. Retaining what you grow is where the work comes in.
And when you have a consistent routine that supports your hair through all the different phases, styles, cuts, and random moments of “I think I want a bob”… the results become much easier to see.

That’s the power of having a system—not just a collection of products and random hair-care habits.

And that’s exactly why I created Grow It. Keep It.

If you’re ready to stop guessing, stop starting over, and actually learn how to build a routine that helps you retain the hair you’re already growing, grab your copy at the link in my bio. 🔗

Because growing your hair is one thing.
Keeping it is the assignment!

“How to regrow your hair after your mom permed it in the third grade.” 😂

At some point, we have to stop blaming everything that ever happened to our hair for the state it’s in today.

The childhood relaxer.
The heat damage from 2011.
The braids we wore too long.
The stylist who “did us dirty.”
The one time we colored it and it “broke off our hair”😂

And yes, those things can absolutely have an impact.

But eventually, we have to look at what we’re doing NOW.

Which brings me to that first picture…
I had been in Nashville for a couple of years and, if I’m being honest, I was much more focused on building my business than I was prioritizing my own hair care.
And listen… I knew better 🥴

I had been blonde since 2014, and after nearly two years of going off vibes with my hair — choosing convenience, ease, and whatever required the least amount of thought — I finally realized:

I want my old thing back. 😂
I wanted the healthy curls with the spring and bounce.
The occasional silk press that didn’t immediately start plotting against me the moment it encountered some environmental moisture. 😩
And that twist-out that had people stopping me while I was out here dillydallying like I didn’t have somewhere to be 😂

So I did exactly what I’ve encouraged my clients to do for years.

I got intentional.
I cut what needed to be cut.
I stopped making excuses for what wasn’t working.
I paid attention to MY hair.
And then I trusted the process.
These photos are my receipts.

Not because my hair magically started growing overnight, but because I consistently worked a system that was designed to help me grow it AND keep it.

And that’s really the point.
Your hair has a history. But your history doesn’t have to dictate your future.

At some point, we have to stop asking, “What happened to my hair?” and start asking:
“What am I going to do about it now?”

That’s exactly why I created Grow It. Keep It.
The guide is officially LIVE, and if you’re ready to get intentional about your own length retention, secure your copy through the link in my bio 🤎

You might recognize a few faces in this reel 👀

These aren’t stock photos. These are real Curl Haven clients from NC to TN who trusted me with their hair, followed the plan, and experienced what can happen when you stop chasing length and start paying attention to how you’re actually retaining it.

And if you made it to the end…

Yep. That’s me 😂

Because I wasn’t just teaching this strategy to my clients.
I used it on my own hair too.

That was a year-long transformation you saw… my transformation! That’s what happened when I chopped my hair off and applied the same principles I’ve been teaching for years to my own hair.

And now I’ve put it ALL in one place.

Grow It. Keep It. is officially LIVE 🎉

Inside, I’m breaking down the myths, habits, mistakes, and strategies that can make the difference between growing your hair and actually keeping the length you grow.

No magic oils.
No 30-day miracle.
No “just leave your hair alone” and hope for the best 😂

Just a practical, nuanced approach to understanding your hair and creating a routine that supports length retention.

If you’re ready to stop starting over and actually keep what you grow, the guide is available NOW.

Consider this your retirement plan from the growth-product aisle 😂 Because this might be the last “grow your hair” product you ever need.

You’ve seen this transformation before… now swipe through the carousel and let’s look at it a little differently 👀

Because when you look at this her before and after, it’s easy to say:

“Her hair got so long.”

But what I want you to see is what happened along the way.

Two years of consistent care.
Not a race to a certain length.
Not chasing a miracle product.
Not trying to force faster growth.

Instead, we focused on the things that make length worth keeping:
Healthy hair.
Consistency.
Protection.
Maintenance.
Education.

And eventually, the length became hard to ignore.

That’s the difference between simply wanting longer hair and learning how to retain the hair you grow.

And there’s one slide in particular I want you to sit with:
Your stylist doesn’t retain your length for you.

We can support the health of your hair, create a plan, treat it, trim it, and teach you what your hair needs.

But you take that hair home. What happens between appointments matters.

So as you swipe through this transformation, don’t just ask:
“How long did her hair get?”

Ask yourself:
“What might I need to change so I can keep more of what I grow?”

Because healthy hair doesn’t happen on a deadline.

It happens through intentional care, repeated over time.

And that’s the conversation we’re having here🤎

Let’s get into the part nobody wants to talk about when they say, “My hair won’t grow.” 👀

Sometimes the issue isn’t how much hair you’re growing.

It’s how much of it you’re keeping as it grows.

Because length retention isn’t one single thing you do once a month. It’s the result of what happens to your hair over and over again.

How often are you manipulating it?

How are you detangling it?

Are your strands consistently dry or adequately conditioned?

How are you managing heat, color and tension?

And perhaps most importantly…

What happens to your hair between appointments?

Because you can get the perfect treatment, trim and style in the salon and still undermine your retention with what happens at home.

And before you start thinking I’m about to tell you that you need to stop wearing your hair out, never use heat, never color your hair, or follow some complicated 17-step regimen…

Nope.

That’s not my approach.

Healthy hair care is about intention, not restriction.

The goal is to understand your hair well enough to make choices that support the health of your scalp and strands while minimizing unnecessary damage and breakage.

So take another look at this carousel.

How many of these might be showing up in your routine 👀

Your hair may not need to grow faster.

You may just need to get better at keeping what you grow.

And before you ask…

Yes.

I’m going to show you how 😌

You’ve seen the length.
Now let’s talk about how you KEEP it 👀

Because those transformations I’ve shared aren’t really about how quickly these women’s hair grew.

They’re about how much of that growth they were able to retain.

Your hair can be growing every single month and you can still feel like you’re “stuck” at the same length.

Why?

Because growth happens at the scalp.
Length is what you manage to keep.
And between the moment a new strand emerges and the moment you’re admiring it hanging down your back, a LOT can happen…

Manipulation.
Dryness.
Heat.
Color.
Tension.
Detangling.
Your maintenance routine.
What happens between appointments.

None of these things automatically mean your hair can’t be healthy.

But the way you manage them matters.
That’s one of the biggest shifts I want women to make when it comes to their hair:
Stop thinking only about how to make your hair grow.

Start thinking about how to create an environment where you can keep what you grow.

Because longer, healthier hair isn’t just about what happens in the salon.

It’s also about what happens between appointments.

And that’s where we’re going next 👀
The goal isn’t just to grow it.
The goal is to KEEP IT.

You might not have a hair growth problem.

You might have a length retention problem 👀

And those are two very different things.

Your hair can be growing consistently from the scalp while you’re simultaneously losing that progress through breakage, excessive manipulation, dryness, damage, or simply not having a sustainable routine between appointments.

So if you’ve been saying:

“Why won’t my hair grow?”

“I’ve been natural for years and my hair is still the same length.”

“My hair grows, but I can never seem to get it past this point…”

…it may be time to ask a different question:

How much of the hair I’m growing am I actually keeping?

That shift in perspective is at the heart of how I approach healthy hair at Curl Haven.

Because longer hair isn’t about getting your hair to grow faster.

It’s about creating the conditions for healthier strands, minimizing breakage, and consistently retaining the growth you already experience.

And over the next few posts, I’m going to show you exactly what that can look like.

Here are three of many client transformations I want to share with you:

✨ One with 2 years of consistent care
✨ One with 1 year of consistent care
✨ One with 8 months of consistent care

And the amount of length they’ve retained? 😅

Stay close. We’re talking about what actually happens between one month of growth and the next.

Because the goal isn’t just to grow it.
The goal is to KEEP IT.
