The difference between Nashville and a great many other cities is that Nashvillians always extend the invite. The longer I live in this city, the more I continue to be blown away by the generosity and support of my chosen community. We come from all walks of life, show up in this world in vastly different ways and yet, when called upon to support a cause— we say yes immediately as go-givers always do.

On this evening we celebrated the @rhboydco 5th Annual Legacy Ball, the proceeds for which benefit the R.H Boyd Family Endowment Fund’s scholarship and grants program.

Not skin related-but I get asked a lot what my hair routine is, so here it is! Please keep in mind that what works for my hair may not work for yours and I highly recommend seeing a specialist to give you guidance for your hair. I have fine textured, medium density hair. Everyone thinks my hair is really thick but it’s actually really fine, I just have lots of it! So here goes the routine:

Monthly: @olaplex Clarifying shampoo & @redken Extreme OR @k18hair protein treatment

Weekly: Neem Herbal Shampoo (the Neem herb is amazing for treating flaky scalp) as my 1st shampoo and @amika Hydro Rush (for summer, Krystal has me use another one for winter) as my 2nd shampoo, @paulmitchell the Detangler conditioner, @amika Soulfood deep conditioner (I should be using Hydro Rush but wanted to finish this jar up 😅) with steam for 10 minutes. I also do my hair in sections which makes it easier for product application and prevents tangling.

Styling Products: LOTS OF WATER, @ilovethedoux Mousse Def, @innersenseorganicbeauty Curl Memory gel & @ouidad Advanced Climate Control Gel

Trims with @_curlhaven once a quarter and silk presses no more than 2-3 times a year (also with @_curlhaven

I’m officially in my “don’t wanna go unless I’m getting my hair washed, conditioned, and blown out” era.

One of my favorite parts about the salon is the shampoo, but it’s getting difficult to find a stylist who doesn’t want to skip that part these days.

And let’s be clear it’s not a protective style if it’s not actually protecting your hair.
