Fitzroy Quarter by Milieu (Coming Soon)

We’re pleased to introduce Fitzroy Quarter, a new neighbourhood in Melbourne’s inner north, where Fitzroy, Collingwood, Clifton Hill and Fitzroy North meet.

Shaped through design at every scale, Fitzroy Quarter brings together architecture, landscape and local life as part of one connected whole. The project has been developed with a collective of local architects, landscape designers and collaborators, each bringing a different perspective to how a neighbourhood might be lived in.

The Apato showroom resembles the quiet sophistication of an art gallery. An unexpected saturated palette of eggplant, mustard, warm whites and greys complements the predominantly blond timber furniture and brings balance and depth to the space.⁠

The design of Apato’s Melbourne showroom is grounded in proportion and spatial clarity. We peeled back the layers and revealed the building’s raw bones, working with the structural grid to provide a tangible underlying rigour.⁠
⁠
Building on the proportions of traditional tatami mats, consistent datums instil legibility, while elevated plinths intuitively guide movement and anchor attention. These balanced proportions create a calm and engaging experience, ensuring the furniture is the focus.⁠

Introducing the new showroom for Apato.⁠
⁠
Presenting a curated collection of handcrafted timber furniture by master designers from Japan, Apato’s Melbourne showroom reflects the shared commitment to considered design and workmanship.⁠
⁠
The space quietly references Japanese design principles through the inclusion of the tokonoma, a framed alcove that establishes a visual focal point, alongside byōbu folding screens and noren hanging fabric screens. ⁠
⁠
These interpretations are expressed through proportion, alignment, restraint and the disciplined use of negative space.⁠
⁠

The Commons Health Club, South Yarra⁠

The ground floor member's lounge is an extension of Commons Cafe provided a dedicated space for work, relaxation and connection.⁠

Concrete, timber and stone are combined with a custom mint green tiled wall and lemon yellow ceiling to create a calm, light filled and uplifting arrival to the multi level club.⁠

The 1st floor bathhouse is located within the original heritage building on Toorak Road, bathed in natural light and full of greenery.⁠
