3 months ago I picked up everything I had and moved to Tampa, while leaving everything I had ever known back in NC to answer the call God put on my life and accept a position in full time ministry. If you know me, you know this is the one thing I swore up and down I would never do with my life…God sure does have a funny sense of humor.

I say all that to say- I shouldn’t be here. I shouldn’t be walking around on this planet but it is ONLY by his grace and mercy that I am doing so. If you know my story, you know that I am a Pastor’s Kid, but what you may not know is that I grew up resenting that, and I had a plethora of church hurt to go with it. I grew up with a lot of anger, which fueled the fire of various addictions in my life. From drugs to alcohol there was one common denominator, escape from reality. I tried to out run who I was created to be for a long time, and it resulted in a deep depression. Through lots of self evaluation and discovery I learned one thing, I could never out run my God given identity. And the more I thought about it, why would I want to?

I’ve been walking with Jesus for a little over 3 years now and the transformation that has taken over my life is nothing short of a miracle. Many of you know a version of me that no longer exists, and that’s okay. I wish you all the best and I hope I get to tell you my story face to face someday. But the real reason I’m writing this is to tell you about the power of surrender, because there is a supernatural peace on the other side of it. In January, I felt like God was calling me to surrender my dreams to him and the future I had planned for my life. I wasn’t sure why, I just felt a strong pull to do so. So I did, with some hesitation, but a lot of faith. Little did I know He was preparing me for the next season of my life. Since I chose surrender, I have found joy & my purpose: to create environments where people experience Jesus! I’m beyond grateful for everything that has taken place for me to get here. I’m still far from perfect and in desperate need of his grace every single day. But I know the best is yet to come, and I’m beyond excited for what the future holds. taken in Tampa, Florida by @_dmull

Last night was my last night serving @pc3overflow with @portcityproduction and to say the last 3 years have been incredible would be an understatement. I’m so grateful to have been apart of such an awesome team and church family who have been so instrumental in my spiritual development and formation. This place has become my home and I’m really gonna miss it. I found community in the one place I never thought I would, and for that I am beyond thankful - for the people, the memories made, and the life change we’ve experienced together. Jesus Changes Everything!

With that being said, I can’t wait for my next chapter in Florida, and NC you’ve been good to me but…

A few months ago I was asked to go on a Mission’s Trip to LA, and little did I know how grateful I would be that I said yes to what God had in store for me during this trip…and to think I almost backed out of it! After the funds were raised for me to go on this trip in less than 8 hours, it was clear to me that God had something special and intentional for me on this trip. It opened my eyes to the state of our country - something that has been heavy on my heart for a long time. It’s one thing to go on a trip to a 3rd world country where people are struggling, but it’s another thing to have people struggling so close to us, in our own nation. This trip wrecked me in the best way possible. Every conversation, interaction, and moment was divinely appointed by God and I feel so blessed to have gone on this trip. Walking through places like Skid Row, and Compton, and seeing the way people are living (and surviving) has given me a fresh perspective on this life. The thing that keeps coming to mind is how a lot of us are just one bad decision away from being in a position like this. As we handed out food and clothes in these places to the fire victims and the marginalized, the thing that struck me the most is how people just wanted to be seen - some even more than they wanted to eat. I am so grateful for the friendships and community forged on this trip, and even more thankful that I said yes. I’ll never forget it. Pray for LA taken in Los Angeles, California by @_dmull
