Apparatus Balloons by Kristaps Ancāns and Marc Hulson are now part of the collection of Kirsten and Stephan Landwehr and are currently on display at Château Royal.

Works from the same series have previously been exhibited at Domobaal in London, Apiece Gallery in Vilnius, and Riga Contemporary Art Space in Riga.

"Amongst fearful iconographic contingencies, such a quietly composed technique quietly nudges the viewer towards the deeper pleasures of the engaged gaze: the compound act of looking, thinking, and translating from painterly matter that reminds us how we differ from animals, and how we might potentially differ more… Somewhere near the heart of this, one feels, is a generalised horror of instability – the possibility that anything is possible, any shift at any moment, even unto self–consumption – and an attempt to use painting, in all its remarkable mutability, as a method of both diagnosing and acclimating to that horror."

Self-Portrait in Bendy Balloons, 2007 (oil on canvas, 120 x 90cm) is now on view @domobaal together with other works from that period. Private view Saturday 26th noon to 6 pm.
A portrait head made out of balloons is ridiculous. And a self portrait constructed out of those bendy balloons that clowns use is doubly so, they look like condoms for one thing. There is something sinister about this head, no matter how many times you puncture and deflate it you know it will leeringly inflate again, rather like the murderous psychopath you are convinced you have finally drowned in the bath but who rises up again the moment your back is turned. taken in Domobaal by @_domobaal_

Highlights from yesterday's phenomenal Table Top Museum 2026 exhibition at the Art Workers Guild in Bloomsbury. I presented "Bread Diary", consisting of 150 Bread Ties that I collected over a period of 12 years.

Such an amazing event to participate in, some wonderful and absolutely breathtaking personal collections. They ranged from souvenir busts of dictators, Tin whistles, flyers, shopping lists to Vintage bolts and screws, souvenir pens, and found handwritten notes. Delighted to have been part of it ❤️

Testicles with Moustache 2006, (oil on canvas, 122 x 97 cm) and other paintings from that period will be on view at @domobaal Gallery. Private view 26 September 6pm

This is just very wrong. A rear view of buttocks and legs and pendulous testicles make a face at you. The testicles are a fake nose coloured red. The moustache is fake too. Makes you wonder who painted the pinwheel eyes on the buttocks and what their intentions were. The heavier outline of the thighs is offset by the more delicate tracery of the calves and feet that double as a mouth. The hat is set at a jaunty angle. taken in Domobaal by @_domobaal_

As part of The Art Workers' Guild 'Table Top Museums' 2026,
Dermot O’Brien has been invited to show 'Eaten Bread is soon forgotten (Bread Diary 2003-2016)' his collection of (146) bread ties which began when he started retaining the wire ties which had been used to seal packets of german sunflower seed and rye bread when he first arrived in Berlin.

He continued to collect them after he returned to London (2003 - 2026)
